Resistance: retribution lives up to it's console counterparts.

Resistance: retribution has everything that you could expect from a handheld resistance and maneges to meld a pretty good story tie-in as well. The visuals are quite good and it runs well, most impressive is that the game maintains these great visuals with lots of explosions and enemies on-screen, it gets pretty impressive in the vehicle moments. The visuals do look a bit grainy at times, but come on, it's a psp. The sound is resounding and it resonates really well, you should play with headphones to get the full ooomff of the gun blasts and explosions. Some noises do sound tinny, mostly just leapers when they die are really annoying. But largely the sound is a great. Gameplay would be terrible if shooting wasn't lock-on, but it is and works really well, still feels clunky inspite working quite well though. Hard to complain when all the game developers had to work with is one joy-nub. Controling resistance with a duel-shock 3 PS3 controler feels really good and has rumble, yay. The single-player is good, but isn't extensively long, it's not short, still being longer than most FPS games on consoles, but I expect alot after playing the quite long resistance console games. It's really however unfair for me to expect a console resistance game on the psp, but it comes really close. Making retribution even closer to a console game is the online-multi-player, which has all the standard modes that shooter fans expect, and has a modest amount of maps, but all of them are good, so it isn't to lacking in maps. There is mic support and has 8 players on each map. It's all great, but I would have prefered no multi-player and just had twice as long of a single-player, but thats really asking a franchise to change what they have been doing from the start, so all in all, I can't imagine retribution being much better other than a few things like a longer single-player and more maps, more players online would have been nice, maybe 12 players? But really, play retribution with the mindset that it's a psp game, play it, enjoy it, it's a great game that does it's best to be a console game and it largely succeeds.

A good addition to the Resistance universe. 0

Resistance Retribution takes place a few weeks after the events of Resistance Fall of Man. You play the role of Grayson, a British ex-Marine swearing revenge on the Chimera after they had turned his brother into one of them. Throughout the story you’ll meet up with new characters and familiar ones hinted at or actually present in the PS3 games. The bad news here is that Grayson’s story does not link directly to that of Hale (the protagonist in RFOM & R2). The good news is that it is the best...

A big game in a little package. 0

Love it or hate it, much of the PSP catalog consists of portable versions of console games you've already played. Many of these are faithful, spirited copies of their source material, but they are still copies nonetheless with a nagging sense of deja vu. Resistance: Retribution follows this pattern, but it's hard not to be impressed by how well-made this game is and how much the developers have crammed into Resistance's PSP incarnation. A lengthy single-player campaign offers an satisfying paral...
