Game » consists of 9 releases. First released on Oct 09, 2012

Retro City Rampage is an open-world action game, a parody of the 8-bit era's video games and pop culture.

Put in the Konami code.

Fine. Per Cincaid's suggestion, I will say that you'll be pleasantly surprised.

It doesn't kill you like in Gradius, but it does do something that is pretty damn spiffy. Needless to say, I think I'll totally try some other old school cheats and see if they yield out some other uhm, interesting... results.

What have you discovered in this so far?

Argh, fuck being in Australia and PSN not updating until tomorrow.

#3 Posted by Minifig (127 posts) - 7 months, 15 days ago

I can't wait to see what this game has that we discover. I was so happy when I tried this.

@Minifig: You might want to expand your original post, as of now it's considered nothing more than a spam-topic by the mods. For starters you can put what happens when you punch in the code in a spoiler block, or something, not just writing " :D " and expect people to discuss.

True, but I kind of like how he's leaving us in suspense. The rules can be a real bummer sometimes...

I still left you in suspense with my edit, because I don't want to blow the surprise (I did after all discover this!), but I tried to keep it hidden. :)

Didn't mean to come off as a douche (and I'm not setting the rules!), just wanted to avoid the mods locking your topic. ^^

...so you're not going to say what happens and instead leave it blank?

Thats what spoiler tags are for

Awesome, will give it a go.

So... what happens?

#12 Edited by abdo (1027 posts) - 7 months, 15 days ago

Wait wait, don't tell me. I'll go try it right now.

I found a quick mention of Sunnyvale Trailer Park looking for a new supervisor. Brilliant. Apparently there are also a lot of Vancouver specific mentions and references, they're going nuts finding them.

And I appreciate it, so I fixed it .. :)

You can also find John Romero in a cave that tells you another code which gives you god mode.

Oops, yeah, it was John Romero, my mistake.

Yet another great Canadian indie game. Gonna buy this on steam, wish it was out on 360 but don't wanna wait.

#19 Posted by ShaggE (4463 posts) - 7 months, 14 days ago

I can't believe I haven't tried that. Of COURSE the Konami code does something... this guy has thought of everything, hasn't he? What a brilliant game.

What's the code ?

#21 Posted by Hailinel (18147 posts) - 7 months, 14 days ago

I'll have to download this when I have the chance. I played demos of the Wii (when it was part of the PAX 10) and more recently the Vita version at separate PAXes, and it is wonderfully absurd.

I just found out that Man God Bettenhausen is a playable character. I think I might need to get this game now, even though I have no nostalgia for 80s action movies and video games. How is it as a stand alone GTA2 clone?

@AuthenticM:

You're on a gaming website that's a virtual Wikipedia of gaming knowledge and you ask what the konami code is. Do you understand the ineptitude of what you just asked?

Haha yeah, I saw the Sunnyvale Trailer Park reference. I'm so glad my friend made me watch Trailer Park Boys, pretty funny show.

The code you get from John Romero, in case anyone wants to try it is: up up left right left right down down R1 X

I don't remember offhand where Romero is, in one of the buildings.

The question is .. does the DULLARD code from MK 2 do anything?

#28 Posted by Forcen (1498 posts) - 4 months, 27 days ago

I tried this over and over, and I couldn't get it to work. Turns out that it is not exactly the konami code, it had A-B at the end instead of B-A that I was trying.
