    Some remakes allow you to switch back to how the game originally looked.

    Whether through a menu option, or through on-the-fly buttons, some remakes allow the player to select the modern, current-generation graphics or use the original graphics style.

    It was prominently used in the Monkey Island remakes, where users could press a button to switch between the original graphical style and text-based dialogue and modern graphics and voice acting.

    It can also be used for retro-style graphics for pseudo-remakes and spiritual successors, such as Tecmo Bowl Throwback, which could turn into retro-style graphics with a press of a button.
