So I've been digging into the history of Rick Dyer and been trying to, in a sense, 'track him down'. Thought after the discussion on Unprofessional Friday last week it'd be interesting to see what everyone else thought of Rick and whether anyone had any info on him?

I didn't watch UF yet, but just looking at his page it was very easy to find.

Dyer is now a certified REALTOR® in Julian, California at Apple Tree Realty.

Was expecting to hear some horrid "doom and gloom" story after we all saw how much money must've gone down the sink with the Halcyon and the like, but hearing that he seems to be doing well is strangely comforting in a sense. Thanks for sharing. I had heard about and seen that page but didn't know whether to believe it or not (missed the part where it mentions Dragon's Lair quite specifically and his face is quite obviously aged from all the video footage when the Halcyon was happening so wasn't quite sure whether it was him).

Do you think he's really pissed about the kinect?

I'm sure he misses the industry to a certain extent. But I'm sure real estate is a little more comfortable as a career path than the games industry was in the 80s

YES. OH GOD PLEASE DO THIS.

I met Rick Dyer, Don Bluth and Gary Goldman years ago at E3. They were signing posters for Dragon's Lair 3D. Very nice guys. I know most people think Dragon's Lair and Space Ace are terrible these days. But, I still enjoy playing them every once in while. I know a lot of it is nostalgia for me. But, back in the 80's there was always a big crowed around DL and SA (not so much Thayer Quest). They were the pioneers of Quick Time Events. Which are mostly terrible today.

If nothing else, Patrick's old co-workers at 1UP could have use of that. Could be pretty fascinating Retronauts content.
