Decided to try out Riven: The sequel to Myst as they love to point out.  I played Myst 15 years ago and loved it but never even tried any other games in the series and it looks like now is the time.

I loved Riven back in the day, but I couldn't get very far without a guide.  The music and atmosphere in general is incredible though, like all the Myst games.

Haven't played any of the Myst games. Are the console ports any good?

I never made it all the way through Riven, but I played through Myst, Myst 3, and Myst 4, and enjoyed them all.  Not to change the subject, but if they came out with either a new game or HD remasters of the originals for consoles with Kinect or Move support, I might actually buy Kinect or Move.

The Playstation port is pretty yucky - it's slow, uglier than the original and without mouse control it obviously doesn't feel as nice to control. No idea about any others, although I hear the DS post isn't great either (read: terrible).

I loved Myst, but found the 5-discs-worth of Riven too much back in the day. I also own the Playstation version of Riven (also on 5 discs) and although it performs better than PSX Myst, it's still pretty damn clunky.

I have very very very fond memories of Riven from the olden days.
