CMT let spill that RB will soon have some Country added to the setlist, I'm curious what the GB community thinks about this.

Personally I'm all for it. I'm not going to buy it as I'm not a country fan, but more diversity in DLC is a very good thing imo. There has been quite a negative (erm, "mixed" I mean) response on the official RB forum and at gamespot/gamefaq, but that isn't really something that is unique to this announcement.

So what say you? Is this a sign of the apocolypse? I think we're still aways from something like "Country Hero" or "Fiddle Band", but who knows, if this really takes off we could see a lot more from this genre in the future.

I think it's a good thing, but they'll either have to be very carefull about what songs they pick, or not have drum parts in some songs, because some country songs don't have drums.

On a personal level, I'm not a huge fan of country music, but some of the banjo solo's in them are insane and will be hella fun to play - so it gets a big thumbs up from me.

Here's a hypothetical: let's say when Rock Band 3 comes out there are a total of 3 country songs on the disk. Guitar Hero follows suit and does the same. How many bricks do you shit then?
    1. One bricks.
    2. Two bricks.
    3. ????
    4. ...profit!

I could handle some Johnny Cash as well, for some reason I don't consider him very country-ish though. Then again I only like maybe 3 of his songs, so go figure.

While I'm not a fan of country, I'm glad that Harmonix is going to other genres to get songs from, and maybe it means that we'll see more genres we haven't seen much of in RB or any rhythm game for that matter.

I love Johnny Cash, but I'm not really sure if it would be very fun to have it in the game. But here's hoping they put some Kill Devil Hills.

Johnny Cash would be great, but I don't want Tim McGraw or, God forbid, Rascal Flats.

Maybe southern rock as well? Like more Lynyrd Skynyrd or Allman Brothers.  I am all for that.

Considering it's optional, I have no problem with it. If I had to endure some of today's really bad country music to play through the actual game, I wouldn't be so happy, but I could always just mute the TV, which I've done for some songs in the past.

I totally did that on Raining Blood in GH3.

I bet we won't see a "real" country song in RB or GH on disk anytime soon, but I'd be willing to bet we're going to get more and more southern rock that is borderline country.

Haha, dude! Raining Blood? I think that was one of GH3's best songs. The guitar work in the game is something else, man, I love it. I'm not a huge metal fan, but I love the power of that song. It's pretty intense. I was referring to songs like Beast and the Harlot in GH2, and We Got The Beat by the Go-Gos in GH80s. Oh well.

    1.  It's not confirmed, as HMX came out and said there is no confirmation.

    2.  It's called ROCK Band, not COUNTRY Band.  Keep the country out of it.

I love my classics (given that I'm from Texas, it's a necessary evil we must bear), but I just don't see Merle or Conway or Patsy or anything working well on the game.

Oh, wait, I'm sorry.  I'm talking about REAL country.  I'm sure that CMT is talking about shit music like Toby Keith and all that.

The only two artists I could see making an appearance on Rock Band that are worth it are Brad Paisley (cause that muthafucker can make an axe SCREAM, damn good guitarist) and Johnny Cash...because he's fucking Johnny Cash!

Not a fan of country at all, but like others have said, if it's optional I don't see a problem. Some of the southern rock songs are very fun to play (I love both the Allman Brothers' songs from GH II and RB II), and stuff like Freebird and Green Grass are pretty fun to play.

As long as they keep the more boring stuff to DLC, I'll be fine. ;D

Depends what you mean by Country since it's a broad genre. You can call Elvis, Cash, Creedance Clearwater Revival, and hell, even Skynyrd country rock.

It's funny, I don't consider any of those bands/singers as country. When I think country, I think that of that damn guitar twang and sad songs about how your dog/cat/wife/etc has left you and/or died. I'm sure I'm just uninformed with the genre, but I'll be damned if I'm not telling the truth.

Anything that gets more CCR and Skynyrd into the game is fine with me though.

I am not much of a fan of country, but I think some should be in it to an extent. They should not place a Taylor Swift song in the game, just to gain a larger audience(Please do not do this Harmonix). That would lower your fans' expectation of you. I think they should just try to put country songs from up to the 70s or 80s and stop there.
