Rock Band 2 Review
Rock Band 2 indeed starts where Rock Band ended. The game where you can become a world renowned drummer, lead guitarist, bassist, or singer has been made better. There are some things that I don't like about the game, but there are too many good things about the game which make me want to play it until I can't drum, strum, or sing again.
The graphics are about the same as last time, but I think there is a bit more variety in certain areas. You'll notice that there a couple more places to perform in which makes the experience feel even more like a tour. You'll also see that you can customize your character just a bit more, though some of the customizations will leave you confused or wishing for a bit more.
The controls are sweet, there's nothing wrong with playing instruments. The one thing that will hurt a bit is trying to sync up where all the instruments feel right. It's all about the setup that you are using. HD Tvs, or Projectors can definitely cause some stress if you don't calibrate up.
The game as stated before rocks. I do like the fact that the way bands are structured are a bit better. What I mean by that is that as long as the account that is the leader of the band is signed in it doesn't matter what instrument they play you can use that band. In Rock Band 1, the account was tied to a specific instrument that caused a bit of pain, but that's been fixed. Also the solo touring as basically been replaced with more of the world tour and you can add instruments as you go if friends come over.
The best part about this game, and a very smart thing on Harmonix's part, is the fact that for only $5 you can basically have all the songs that you were performing in Rock Band 1 in Rock Band 2's song list, that of course includes the download songs. The exceptions I think only number in 2, and that's a Metallica song and an Iron Maiden song, but seeing as I'm not a huge fan of either I don't see it as that big of a loss. This game deserves a 9.2 out of 10.
