Good morning,

I braved the lightning that hit next to my house to come and post this, so you better love it! Next week we have the previously announced Green Day 3-pack coming from their latest album. Also we have a sweet pack coming from the Mayhem Festival.

In addition two of the Green Day tracks are now eligible for the Pepsi video promotion (details below)-

Two of the new songs, “21 Guns” and “East Jesus Nowhere,” will also be eligible for the “Best Performance In a Pepsi Rock Band Video” category at the MTV Video Music Awards, giving Green Day fans the opportunity to take home a Moonman at this year’s award show. To participate, fans in the United States need to purchase the Green Day tracks on DLC or choose another song from the official competition list and create an original, creative music video. Music video submissions will be accepted through July 28 at www.PepsiRockBand.com. The winning band will travel to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, walk the red carpet, receive their very-own Moonman statue and be featured in a spot produced by MTV to air nationally the night of the awards show.

These tracks will be available for purchase as part of the “Green Day Pack” or “Mayhem Pack” or as individual tracks for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 systems.

Only thing I'll probably get is the Green Day...and that's mainly to have songs everyone knows at parties....

Mayhem Pack is not something I'm interested in. I can not listen to Death Metal, and I agree with Hobbies. Cannibal Corpse? Really? This is going to be censored worse than Sir Psycho Sexy. I wonder what album cover they'll use too.

I would have been really excited for the Slayer if they had chosen ANY song Reign in Blood or after. Everything before then was really shitty sound quality.

Also, for those saying Cannibal Corpse will be censored...you're kidding, right? There's no cussing in that song at all.

The rest of the stuff...meh. The God Forbid song is alright. Otherwise, you've got a couple of shitty Hot Topic bands (Job for a Gayboy and Whiteshithole), a decent band that I just don't personally dig listening to (Black Dahlia Murder), a shitty Slayer song (Black Magic...yeah, I said it!), and the craptacularity of Marilyn Manson and Behemoth.

This is not the only Green Day songs we're getting. This is merely the first batch of songs we are getting from Green Day. There was a leaked file with 17 (I think its 17) songs, all from Green Day. So stay patient for more.

Harmonix themselves have said that this is the first pack of Green Day, with more to come.

I was not impressed with Green Day's new record. Part of me, as a longtime fan, feels they could go back to their roots to what got them where they are in the first place. But I know that probably won't happen and it's just wishful thinking. I think they're too busy trying to be U2.

That aside, I'll probably end up getting East Jesus Nowhere because that song kinda grew on me.

Coming from a band who's album covers display mangled corpses and abstract logos it's pretty surprising the only swear word is "fuck" in this song. And it's only used once, looks like I found my new favorite song to sing.

And coming from a real drummer who finds a lot of the songs on drums in rockband boring (epically with the lack of double bass) this pack is going to be extremely fun. This will easily top the all that remains pack and satisfy my blast beat needs.

I can't believe they finally got some real metal on there. That being said it isn't the strongest lineup. I'd love to see a brutal death metal song like Graves of Our Fathers by Cryptopsy (imagine the drum part) and some of the darkest black metal.

@Stephen_Von_Cloud: Some Black Metal would be absolute win, but I really doubt that'll happen anytime soon. They're dipping their toes with Behemoth, but I don't think anything kvlt will find its way onto DLC.
