Jesus, that's what the song sounds like? Yuck...just...no. They have some pretty damn good songs on Appetite for Destruction, I can't imagine there are a lot of people who would rather play this over the old stuff.
At least most of the other RB2 songs are awesome.

They should've chosen Catcher in the Rye or I.R.S in stead of this. But for some reason I don't see it sounding like this in Rock Band... can't really explain it.

Aaaaahhh! Teh distortion!! And what the hell is up with the singing? I'm not a huge Axl fan, or GNR fan overall, but that sounded a little on the pitiful side.

IGN: How did debuting a new GnR song come about? And how was "Shackler's Revenge" chosen as the song for RB2?
Brosious: Well of course we really wanted to have GnR included in RB2 and Paul DeGooyer, our music guru and all-around good guy at MTV, worked directly with the GnR folks to make it happen. Everyone involved decided that it'd be ultra fab to have something from the mysterious "Chinese Democracy." And Axl himself took an interest and chose "Shackler's Revenge." Very cool.
So Axl himself picked the song...
He really should've chosen Chinese Democracy, Catcher in the Rye, or I.R.S instead. Although I don't really think the song would be that bad with better quality. But maybe that's just me...

Yeah, it really does explain a lot. But can we have a song that everyone knows like Welcome To The Jungle (which was about to be in the last one, god knows why they cut it out) or Paradise City? Those song would be fun to play, this song, not so much.

I haven't heard anything about Slash having an exclusivity deal with Guitar Hero, although it would not surprise me. But it also doesn't surprise me that Harmonix went with newer songs, which is sort of a trend for some bands songs in the game (like Red Hot Chili Peppers). They really need to get older stuff from all bands, because it's generally better in my opinion.

Slash was the face of Guitar Hero III, and they've put a song with him playing in every game since (The Lenny Kravitz song in Aerosmith and the Daughtry song in On Tour both featured him). I imagine that even if there's no official deal, he's pretty loyal to Guitar Hero.

Well he sure as hell seems loyal. He said he thought it was a really cool game for making of vids and that even though he sucks at it he loves it.
I think Catcher in the Rye will still be on Chinese Democracy though. Who knows maybe CD will be a full album download? I know I'd download it... (I actually like some of the leaked tracks).
