    Rock Band

    Franchise »

The Rock Band franchise introduced the first rhythm game to incorporate drums and vocals in addition to guitar and bass instruments, creating a virtual band. It was also the first franchise to include genre staples such as Band World Tour, and character customization.

How much (total) have you spent on Rock Band stuff

I was bored so I figured, why not calculate what I will have spent after tuesday on this money-sucking video game franchise?

Original game bundle, warentee, and song transfer: $200
    Replacement RB1 drums: $18
Green Day RB and song transfer: $54
Lego RB and song transfer: $42
    RB2: $65
    marketplace DLC: $207
    RB3 and drums: $200
    RBN DLC: $14
    RB2 song transfer (I assume): $10
    RB1 drum silencers: $20

All together: $830 on a single game franchise.  I think it's safe to say I've never come even close to that on any other game series.  How about you?  How much of your wallet does Harmonix now own?

I paid 10 dollars for the original Rock Band... I think that's it. I already had a Guitar Hero II guitar, and my friend is rich so he buys all the other equipment. I don't even want to think about all the money he's spent on Rock Band.

@Shadow: Is there any easy way of finding out how much has been spent on DLC songs?

I'm fairly confident I've gone over $1000 total for the franchise.

I have spent at least $500 on Rock Band. I'm so glad I don't download songs every week like I used to.

I'm pretty sure I added it up in another thread, or maybe a blog. I've spent hundreds on DLC alone. If I add everything up it'll just make me sad, so I'll avoid that.  :)

Time to bust out my handy dandy Windows calculator

    Rock Band Set- $150
    Rock Band 2 Drum set - $100
    Rock Band 2 set - $150
Drum pedal and pads - $20
    Drum cymbals - $30
    Rock Band DLC - $250

    Total = $700

There may be more in DLC, but that's just a guesstimate since I know I have more than 100 songs.

Hey guys... it's 5 months later, and now that this thread is back from the dead, I think it's time for an update.
I've spent 2 dollars on a DLC song, bringing my grand total up to $12.
How can I stop this mad spending?!

    • Rock Band 1: Game / Drums (Given to me), Transfer ($5) = $5
    • Rock Band 2: Game ($65), Used Mic ($10), Mad Catz Bass ($150), Transfer ($10), DLC - 4 Packs, 23 Free, 13 at $1, 17 at $2 ($69) = $304
    • The Beatles: Rock Band: Game ($65), Rickenbacker Guitar ($110), ALL DLC - 3 Albums ($47) = $222
    • Green Day: Rock Band: Game ($65), DLC - 2 Packs ($11), Transfer ($10) = $86
    • Rock Band 3: Game / Keyboard Bundle ($130), New Mic ($20), DLC - 1 Album, 1 Pack, 15 at $2, 1 Upgrade ($56) = $206

So $823 total. Would have been a bit more if Lego: Rock Band actually let me pay for the export, but alas, it was broken even so long after release. I returned that since I only wanted it for the export and that was impossible. =/

I'm hoping to get a pro guitar soon. I have no regrets at all with how much I've spent, especially since it's been over a few years.

Edit: Didn't even realize this was 5 months old. Oh well, I actually wanted to add that all up at some point. No one should be too surprised that the dude with the Beatles Rock Band Bass avatar likes Rock Band a good bit. =)

Same.  I know I bought 1 and 2 as all-instrument bundles while they were still new.  Plus AC/DC, Lego, Country Pack, and Beatles.  And then the DLC... some quick calculations say at least $400 in DLC.

We stopped keeping track after it hit $1000.
Thank goodness they are releasing some pretty putrid DLC as of now.

Not a single Euro. I have a bass guitar and I'm in a band. Way more fun and less costly.

May I amplify that I own my equipment for about ten years now. The only additional costs are a new set of strings from time to time, batteries (9V) and the fees for the rehearsal space. That's it. And it is more challenging and fun to master a real instrument than to coordinately button-mash on a fake guitar to score some points. (In a Forrest Gump tone) And that's all I got to say about that.

At least half an hour a day (usually an hour), even if I'm tired or don't feel like it. With the band we spent the better half of the sunday afternoon in the rehearsal, which is four to six hours. We're strictly doing it for the fun of it, not for the dream of ever becoming professional musicians. Music is there to comfort me and to break the grind of day to day existence.

Original game $60 then we used GH3 guitars for a while
The Beatles: Rock Band bundle with guitar ~$110
    Rock Band 3: $50
    DLC: ~$70

Total: Around $300, which is even more if you convert it into SEK
