Overview
Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots Arena is fighting game for the PlayStation developed by Paradox Development and published by Mattel. It is one of the games that uses the successful Thrill Kill 3-d combat engine. The game was released on November 30, 2000.
In the game's career mode, the player fights with each of the 14 different robots on the roster, working up the ladder. The game's main feature, and something quite innovative for it's time, was the possibility of dismembering opponents' limbs during the fights, which upon victory could result in keeping and attaching to player's robot , increasing effectiveness. Cash is also earned through fighting which is then used to purchase additional upgrades for the robot.
The original plastic Red and Blue robots from the toy acted as commentators during the fights, a comic nostalgic addition appreciated by anyone old enough to have had the toys.
