Grand Theft Auto IV Episode Two Due By Halloween

UNDER THE SEA
UNDER THE SEA
Take-Two dropped its financial earnings report today with a few bits of info about games that have already shipped. For example, did you know that as of January 31, Grand Theft Auto IV had shipped over 13 million copies into stores? That's kind of a lot. Also, 2K's Carnival Games line has broken four million copies over three games. That's also kind of a lot.

But the interesting part of any quarterly call is the forward-looking bit where they lay out a list of games that will be shipping in the future. In TTWO's case, the game list covers Take-Two's releases from here to October 31, complete with announced platforms.

That's a pretty good list for 2009. Beaterator is probably the one product on that list that might sound foreign. That's a Rockstar-branded music creation thing that was originally announced as a PSP release that would have hip-hop's own Timbaland affiliated with it. Considering that beaterator.com still lists all of those facts, it's sort of strange that they didn't list any platforms alongside it during today's news.

The original version of Beaterator was a Flash app that Rockstar posted online back in 2005. It's still online, in case you want to toss together some funky loops while you wait for more info.

Bioshock is one of those titles that don't mix well with sequel treatment...

THE BIGS 2!!!  WOOT!!!  First one was pretty damn fun!

Also, I'm curious to see more about Red Dead Redemption.  I didn't really dig the first game much, but I will give it that it was unique.

I wonder if Activision is going to try to counter RDR with a new Gun.  That would be pretty fucking sweet!

Good luck getting that finished this year. I bet it won't come out until at least 2010. Remember, TLAD got delayed from fall to spring.

I really hope they do, infact, reach there release date. But knowing how this works, it will probably be delayed to 2010. And I wont mind, as long as the quality of the content is on par with what they have been doing.

Red Dead Redemption, I hope it's good! Not enough good western games out there. And a new GTA episode, so soon? Awesome. :) Sure it's more than a half year away, but still!

I'm indifferent toward this, but if it is hopefully as good as L&D, I'm all for it. They were probably working on this side-by-side with L&D, and I just hope it is good. I have a feeling it will get "delayed", because it hasn't even been announced yet, and hasn't even been giving an official release date.

I will buy at least two of them. Mafia 2 and GTA dlc. I'm not sure about Bioshock 2. I still haven't played the first one.

Red Dead Redemption is the title I'm most excited for.  Everything else on the list I am familiar with, and while Bioshock 2 will be sweet, I've got a pretty good idea what it's going to play like.  Red Dead is something new to me, and that's a good thing.

That really is a great lineup. Looks like I'll be buying quite a few Take-Two games this year.

You'll get my money, Take-two... Mafia 2, GTA DLC and Bioshock 2, that's a pretty good line-up!

no ps3 version for the second episode?

I'm sure that sometime in 2010 they'll both show up. Most exclusive deals are limited time offers, and when those deals expire many titles go multi-platform. Bioshock and Unreal Tournament 3 are both examples of this, there are many others. Last generation the GTA3 games were "exclusive" to Playstation 2, meaning for about a year users could only buy the titles on that platform. Of course as we all know a Xbox version showed up 8-12 months after the PS2 release.

As popular as GTA4 and the Lost and the Damned have proven to be, I'd seriously be shocked if a PS3 version didn't show up at some point.

Great lineup.  I just wish a) Mafia II  didn't look so horrible and b) We PS3 owners could get some GTAIV DLC goodness.

I'm not pissed that the PS3 isn't getting any GTA DLC, even if it was I would be pissed because it's going to take forever for them to come out with another whole GTA game which is what I really want. Then there's the fear that they're just going to do what's been happening to Burnout Paradise: instead of making us a new game, they keep trying to polish the turd we have hoping that some DLC pack or another is going to make it worth playing for longer than a weekend.
