Roger Federer from Switzerland (as of September 8, 2008) has been the number one tennis player in the world for a record 237 consecutive weeks, spanning four and a half years and is currently ranked second in the ATP ranking. He has won thirteen Grand Slams in his career, which include five consecutive Wimbledon titles, five consecutive US Opens, and three Australian Opens. He has accumulated over forty million dollars in career prize money, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He is second to Pete Sampras (14) on the list of all time slam titles.
