I've been talking with some people that are interested into jumping back into Runescape, I also know a few who are already on Runescape. So if you don't have the money to play Star Wars Galaxies or World of Warcraft or want to play something different, why not play Runescape.

All you need do is post your Runescape name and whether you are playing it for free or paying for it. For those worried the free to play version provides enough things to do to last dozens of hours, but if your willing to pay a small fee for membership there are like 200 more quests to do, bigger areas and more skills.

Yeah, I'm kinda broke. Wish I could play Star Wars: Galaxies.

@The_Laughing_Man: I honestly recommend people at least try it, a whole bunch has changed in what the game acutely is. I mean when you start now you choose a class, the tutorial is optional and the games humour has picked up dramatically, day and night cycles, the graphics have improved as has some of the music selection.

I always try to get back into this game. I've just got so much stuff to do. I bought the six months of membership that was on sale even though I've played all of 30 hours in the past two years.

Anyways, my username is "The Avatar" and I'm a paying member. You might be able to catch me online sometime, as I've very slowly been finishing up maxing my combat stats and Slayer.

There aren't really classes in any meaningful way, IIRC they're just pre-made looks for your character, and while there are some areas where it's day and some where it's night, there are no cycles, time of day is entirely static. However, there is some pretty decent music to be found in the "One Piercing Note" quest, which is fully voiced and (maybe?) available to free players.

I've also noticed coins are no longer items, thats a pretty nice feature. There is also a new thing called your tool belt, from what I have gathered its extra inventory space where you store things like pic axes and wood axes and other pieces of tools and equipment, that is a really awesome addition.

Classes, a tool belt and no coins taking up inventory? Wow it sure has changed. I pretty much only played RS between the hours of 11PM and 8 AM (-3:30GMT). I'm increasingly less awake during those times than I used to be but the next time my cat wakes me up between 4 and 6:30 I'll make some coffee and give it a try. Man, I tried making a new character about a year ago and I can't go back to Runescape. This game will remain as a good memory of my junior high years and I like it that way. Good luck, though.

You know what's great about Runescape? Grinding is so mindless that you don't have to pay too much attention. You can click on the tree or the fishing spot to start and then pick up the PSP and play some turn based RPG. After your turn you go to the bank or cook everything in a single click and then it's back to the PSP. You can also play Peggle between clicking and picking up the PSP. THREE GAMES AT ONCE! Multitasking like a mother fucker.

I'm glad the Giantbomb Runescape community consists of like, 4 people. My little brother's playing again and it's pissing us off, that game is such a pile of shit. In a world where he's got free access to my library of games, all he wants to do is play Runescape. Fuck him and fuck Runescape. Gah.

He's been just running around in a town lighting campfires all day. Literally, all day. What the fuck, and he's all excited about some skill cape he's got, he shows it off like it's badass, but it looks like garbage. I know it's a symbol of his 'accomplishment' of building houses over and over again or whatever but this is literally the worst game I've ever seen. I'm using the word "literally" in a literal sense. Fuck.
