Hes my favorite guy on the site but...

...Hes always rushing things. Like the firefighter quick look I just watched he was rushing when Brad and Vinny wanted to keep going. He does this all the time. During the podcasts hes always trying to rush things. Now dont get me wrong I love him hes awsome but the constant rushing can get annoying. I realize they need to get things done but maybe they should do something like set a timer for Bombcasts and Quick looks or something because I hate listening to him rush.

I know this isint a big deal but I just really notice it for some reason. It kinda sticks out to me. Anyone else notice this?

P.S. I'm not trying to make fun of Ryan hes my favorite. Just want to make that clear.

He's just aware that things have to be moving constantly to be entertaining.

Yep. He sort of is the time keeper.

Man, the hate on Ryan this week is crazy.

How dare thou soil the name of Ryan Davis.  Thou shalt not speak poorly about the Ryan.

But seriously, this is not something that I have noticed.  Things need to come to an end eventually, and he knows that.

Did you read the OP. I dont hate him at all. Just stating something that stick out to me and bugs me. I guess it's not as bad as I think it is. I guess it just bugs me. Not a big deal though since noone else cares.

Yeah, what is up with the criticisms of Sir Ryan Davis? I think, like VilhelmNielson said, things always have to be kept moving to stay at top in this business. That, and they do drink a lot of energy drinks in the office. That rapidity has to come from somewhere.

He's the host of the Bombcast and pretty much runs the videos if he's in them. All the quick looks are around 20 minutes, and the Rescue Firefighting game was getting close to that mark.

He pretty much tells the guys when to move on so they'll have enough time for other things later in the day, so I honestly don't understand why you're complaining.

He's the time master!

Ryan is the conductor on Giant Bomb express.

Yeah. Ryan's time keeping skills are essential. As much fun as it is to talk about obscure energy drinks or the revolutionary features of Peter Molyneux's balls, if Ryan weren't there the other guys may very well spend three hours talking about just that. The two hour time frame tends to be about the maximum reasonable time for any podcast, and Ryan is constantly aware of this constraint.

Also, after watching so many terrible movies with terrible pacing, Ryan is probably more aware of when things start to go bad in that department than any of us.

I get the impression that Ryan keeps it more business-like.  The others seem to get caught up playing the games and talking and stuff, which tends to make things trail on longer.  I like some of the long videos and the bombcasts and quicklooks... but sometimes, 10-15 minutes is all you need to spend.

Also, check out the comicvine podcast where Ryan joined them... he seems to naturally take the lead.  He has production skills... at least, I think so.

This is why he is so concerned with the time.

jeff is my favorite, but they are all awesome so i know what you mean.

But ya, they need to have good timing for everything, they are a buisness, which requires work to run

Yeah, I did, so let me rephrase if it bothers you... "Man, the negativity on Ryan this week is crazy".

This is exactly my point. The Bombcast is great, but someone needs to be there to keep it from getting out of hand.

Its cool that he does that. It means you get more crammed into the bombcast.

#21 Posted by CoolDrMoney (1977 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

I'm sure the others would get along just fine without the portly fellow. They've had podcasts without him, none of which exceeding the usual duration.

#22 Posted by AndrewB (6871 posts) - 3 years, 8 months ago

He produces and hosts the Podcast. He wants to keep things flowing in the interest of creating more structured, time manageable content. Seems like they try to keep the length of the average Bombcast as close to 2 hours as possible (the average actual time seems to be around 2:15), and the average quick look tries to keep it under the 20 minute mark.

Somebody has to do it (but I'd still listen to a 6 hour podcast).

The train kept a-rollin' all night long.

Don't hate on the conductor G.

@damswedon: *looks around*

I...i would.

i usually listen to the bombcast twice a week anyway as i need something to listen to in travel or when doing menial tasks. So it being longer would be awesome. I also love to hear them voice their opinions on anything and everything as most of the time mine fall into line with theirs and the rare times it does not i find it interneting to compare my likes against their dislikes.
