Sagat is a character in the iconic fighting game series Street Fighter. He was introduced in the first Street Fighter game, and is Ryu's arch nemesis.
Sagat is from the Street Fighter franchise and is from Thailand. A member of the evil street fighter organization Shadowlaw, which is comprised of M. Bison, Vega, and Balrog. He is Ryu's arch-nemesis. Ryu is actually the one who gave Sagat the scar on his chest in the final match in Street Fighter 1. Sagat's fighting style is Muay-Thai Kick Boxing. As a teenager, Sagat defeated Nuah Kahn to earn the title of Emperor/God of Muay Thai. He killed Go Hibiki, Dan Hibiki's father, in a fight to defend his title and lost the use of his eye during the fight.Sagat's name might have come from legendary Muay Thai fighter, Sagat Petchyindee.
History
Sagat originally appeared in the original Street Fighter game. After the player defeats the eight initial opponents, they are taken to Thailand to face the final two opponents, Adon (Sagat's apprentice) and Sagat himself. After being defeated, he tells the player that they're the "Strongest Street Fighter in the world".In his next appearance in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, he appears as one of the four Grand Masters, being the second last CPU-controlled bosses in single player mode (before M. Bison). Due to the loss he suffered from Ryu in the first game, he appears with a massive scar across his chest. Sagat also appears in the prequel series Street Fighter Alpha. A rivalry with his former apprentice Adon is introduced, and his rivalry with Ryu is fleshed out as well. Realizing that hatred and anger are not the way to become a better fighter, he allows an enraged Dan Hibiki to beat him, forfeiting the fight (though Dan believes he was the better fighter). He studied under Dhalsim for a while, learning more about the spiritual aspects of fighting.
Fighting Style
Sagat plays similarly to Ken and Ryu, with some notable differences. Most prominently of which is his attack range (his low attacks and standing horizontal kicks have very good range). Sagat's attacks also do much more damage than Ryu or Ken's; in addition, his Tiger Uppercut, which parallels Ryu and Ken's Shoryuken, does multiple hits; more than Ken's Shoryuken. Sagat gained the Tiger Knee, or "Tiger Crush", in Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, which allowed him to pass through projectiles and quickly move closer to an opponent (something Ryu or Ken did not have).Appearance
At a height of 7'4" and a weight of 376 lbs, Sagat is one of the most massive and feared characters in Street Fighter. He uses his terrifying height to deliver devastating punches, kicks, elbows and knees from a distance. He is totally bald and wear's an eyepatch to cover his damaged eye. Sagat has hands and feet larger than most people's heads and sport's a shredded, very muscular physique. He has a giant scar on his chest from Ryu's brutal Shoryuken and a smaller scar on the left side of his head.He wears traditional Muay Thai shorts, with his hands and feet always taped.
