I'd rather be burned alive on a stake going through a wood chipper than miss this sale.

Still too expensive. 9.99 and then we will talk.

I don't know how anyone can not like this game!
#5 Posted by LordXavierBritish (6320 posts) -

Not buying it at that price should be a felony.

I've been waiting for this as well. I really shouldn't, but fuck it.

Be advised, PC version has some serious frame rate issues.

Only with certain ATI drivers, IIRC.

Many people are able to run it flawlessly. I'd still advise doing a little research about SR#3 and whichever video card you have if anyone's skeptical.

It's been 24.99 on amazon downloads quite a few times (going back all the way to Christmas). I was tempted, but I'm holding off for now.

EDIT: And because I know the question is coming - yes you do play your Amazon games through steam. They act just like your others for the most part. At least all the amazon games I've downloaded. The only difference I can think of is that if you want to re-download or re-install it later, you'd do that through amazon instead of steam.

I'd love to buy this, especially while it's on sale, but unfortunately I'm suffering from a known issue with AMD Bulldozer architecture and Saints Row not playing well with each other and causing a BSoD (Deus Ex: Human Revolution supposedly does this as well). This happens when I try to run the Initiation Station demo, so I assume this issue would also present itself in the full game as well, and I can't risk wasting my precious dollars. :(

I had the same problem, got it fixed though with something called orrochi-ceg which i found on the steam forums

That's pretty good, but then Steam sales always are.

I believe the official term is "boo yah!"

Just saying

#14 Posted by Xealot42 (273 posts) -

Bought this in an Amazon sale a while ago. I wish I could run it on my aging PC.

#15 Posted by ABK_92 (176 posts) -

Doesn't make the game any better.

#16 Posted by AndrewB (7491 posts) -

Yeah, well Saints Row 2 is $3.75 on Amazon. That's... about the right price for it, right?

No, they should pay you to play Saints Row 2 on PC.

OT: The deal is pretty sweet, although personally this game becomes a great buy after reaching 15$ mark.

Really? I have zero issues.

I am resisting buying this (and most PC games for the next 3-4 months) because I'm committing to working on my backlog. Though I've decided I will pick up Saints Row The Third during the Steam Summer Sale, where the discounted price will be at least this good (or probably even cheaper).

I'm with you. I really want to play it, but the backlog is too big, and the game will get cheaper.

@Kanji: As someone posted above, it has something to do with what drivers you are using, it might have something to do with what graphics card too, but I'm not 100% on that, I should be able to run it fine, but the best frame rate I can get is around 15FPS, even with everything set to low.

@ajamafalous: Good for you.

Yeah on certain AMD drivers and device combos.  It's probably been patched by now if ATI have pulled their thumb out.

No problems here running on a 6850 since 12.1 beta/preview drivers, which was quite a while ago. Prior to that, yes, the game did have issues with the earlier drivers.

Good to hear.  Thanks for the confirmation man.

Running it on a 2500k and an AMD 5870 with no issues at 1080p. My friend is running it on her Core2Quad, 6670 at 1080p with no issues either, though she has to turn her settings down.

I played SR3 after I bought it for my brother for Christmas, and it is taking all of my willpower not to buy it for myself.

EDIT: On a side note, my Q6600 and Radeon 6950 = 60 FPS on max settings.

I'm wondering if I should wait for the next sale or if I should just get this right now...

Well, this sale finally got me to cave in and buy it. I'm enjoying it thus far, but I miss the extensive wardrobe options of SR2. My dude has a 1940's movie star vibe about him, aside from the voice. I would have gone for the British accent, but it's more Jason Statham-esque than snarky like it was in SR2.

Since SR:TT is steamworks, outside of giving the money to amazon you can bypass their amazons system entirely and put the code it gives you into Steam. Then the game works in the same way it would if you had bought it from Steam, so you just re-download it as you would any other Steam game.

Buying a game that isn't Steamworks on Amazon will force you use whatever method Amazon uses to deliver their downloads.

Haha, no problem, i hope your 685% increase in fps helps :P

#39 Posted by AngeTheDude (644 posts) -

The opening crawl and the intro sequence are certainly worth the price of admission. Also, I'm running this at a nice 60 fps!
