The concept of super crazy shit sounds awesome to me, but before I buy it I really want to make sure there's enough content to keep me busy for a good while. Anyone played enough of it to know roughly how many hours of content are in the game?

How long is this game?
It depends on how you play it. So far I've done about half of the story missions and a significant, though definitely not half, amount of the side stuff (my completion says 56%) and I'm at 24 hours played. So for me, it'll probably be around 35-40 hours.
So Idk about you all, but I really love the economy they set up in the third. the way you collect money, the way stores and buildings are priced, along with the way you can see that on your map mostly. That's awesome. And I love me some driving around buying buildings and shit. Don't know why, but I do.
Took me roughly 13 hours. Did a handful of the assassinations and car theft missions but I didn't do any of the side missions like Insurance Fraud that are based on story mission stuff.
Wow, people really seem to be rushing through this. Maybe its the distraction of having a mate playing coop with me but I unlocked the achievement for playing 30+ hours and I still have 11 story missions left (out of 47) and a bunch of side stuff to do:
The side missions are split into types and you typically have 6 missions of each type, varying in difficulty; two easy, two medium and two hard.
As part of the story your introduced to the mechanics and complete 1 of each type, it is then up to you whether you play more. Me and my friend have completed a few sets but we still have some missions of the following types left:
- Trafficking
- Heli Assault
- Escort
- Trail Blazing
- Tank Mayhem
- Prof. Genki's SERC
We also have a few more gang operations to destroy, a bunch of assassination targets, loads of vehicles to collect and a ton of challenges left. Oh, we also have a fair few upgrades left for our characters and our weaponry.
If you read all of the above thinking "I want to do all of that" then you'll be playing this for a good while. If instead you thought "what a waste of time" and only plan to rush through the story then....

Story missions are probably 6-8 hours on the first run through...

For just Story missions 7-8 hours
... its short.
Wether or not the game is long depends on how fun you find the activities. For example, one mission will have you flying around in a helicopter, following your homie who's driving on the ground. You then have to destroy enemy vehicles before they harm your homie too much. After the mission is done, there will be activities around the map where you have to do the exact same thing, sometimes it's as easy, sometimes it's a lot harder, depending on the difficulty of the activity.
I'm fairly certain I won't complete 100%, but i guess if the performance wasn't swinging so much, and generally so poor when driving, i'd at least get closer, but I just don't think the really hard activities are that fun to do.
