Does anybody find it disappointing there is no GTAIV style multiplayer mode, for instance free play where you have the whole island to mess around in with 8+ people.

After turning their infamy into worldwide fame, the Third Street Saints now find themselves at war with a powerful criminal organization called The Syndicate. Strap it on.
No GTAIV style multiplayer mode.
Nope, it was never there to begin with nor announced or even speculated to be.
Saint's doing what it does best, but we can only hope they will up it to 4 players the next generation.
Unless they made some hugely substantial improvements to the engine over SR2, I can't comprehend how anywhere near 8 players on the same map could be possible. I remember specifically a mission on a boat from SR2 where the framerate dropped to approximately 8 FPS. This was a mainline story mission. In any case, I found 2 to be quite fun and am looking forward to "the third".
It was actually a thirty-second sequence in the beginning when you're going back to Stilwater by boat. At a certain section before you go under the bridge the framerate drops. The rest of the game was relatively smooth, though. Don't think that game was plagued with framerate issues because it wasn't.Unless they made some hugely substantial improvements to the engine over SR2, I can't comprehend how anywhere near 8 players on the same map could be possible. GTA does actual multiplayer, SR does 2player co-op
the co op lets you play freely doesnt it not,
thats how i remember saints row 2 ,
but no its not 16 players,
@Napalm: that's not the section I'm talking about, there was a mission where you had to take control of a ship while gang members arrived by boat and helicopter. I was only able to get through the section by hiding in a small room and letting the engines come to me because with all the enemies onscreen the framerate was embarrassingly low. I couldn't believe it made it into the shipping game. The mission was called "the enemy of my enemy"
Ah, I know that one. Awesome, action-packed mission. I didn't have any framerate issues during this mission. Fortunately, that engine held up quite well to a lot of shit blowing up on-screen. Nothing like using the auto shotgun and a rocket launcher to take down dozens of enemy choppers and boats. Good shit, good times.@Napalm: that's not the section I'm talking about, there was a mission where you had to take control of a ship while gang members arrived by boat and helicopter.
