Enter The Dominatrix has officially been announced, and it's no longer an April Fool's Joke! Yay! <3

Additional, new details:

Arriving on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for $29.99, this expansion adds "the most requested gameplay features" from the Saints Row community: freaking super powers.

Story setup:

For centuries, alien warlord Zinyak has eyed Earth and its precious natural resources and females with a watchful eye. As he prepares an armada for invasion, he has only one worry: the Third Street Saints. Once a simple street gang from Stilwater, the Saints have evolved into a global empire, replete with bombastic TV advertising and tasteful consumer products, the kind of TV advertising and consumer products that would give any alien warlord pause. Clearly, the Saints are the biggest badasses on Earth.

Now, in order to prepare his forces for domination, Zinyak captures the leader of the Saints and imprisons him in an elaborate virtual reality simulation. This simulation program looks and feels like Steelport, but it is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Here, you are a slave. Welcome… to the Dominatrix.

I would have my doubts about that. The DLC in general has left me disappointed for the most part. Content has been average and the play time has been severely short. Still, I'll get it so that THQ gets the idea of putting all their resources to making an awesome SR4.

Most people/companies do their April Fool's Day joke on the 31st, so this is well within April Fool's territory.

@Napalm: Nah. Let them have fun with their own game. If you think it's cruel to mess with the community, you should go check out the stuff that Blizzard does every year.

Also, first time Valve showed the Jarate it was an aprilfools joke.

As people have said, the Problem with an April Fools Joke in the context of SRT3 is that holy shit everything in that game is so fucking ridiculous that it could be a joke.

So whilst this clearly is a joke, I still WANT TO BELIEVE.

'Stand-alone expansion' is the only thing really raising my eyebrow.

Who knows ... it's even a pretty SR3 thing to do an April fools that turns out to not be an April fools at all.

One look at the calender makes me assume this is false until further notice, knowing Volition though I wouldn't be that shocked if they actually went through with this. Not sure I really get the bit about THQ not being able to "afford" jokes, I see no tangible way in which a short April Fool's prank could really hurt them financially.

Well, in 2008 Volition put up an April Fools trailer for Red Faction: Guerilla that showed an ostrich as the ultimate melee weapon. And then they went ahead and actually included the ostrich in the game, so who knows

I...I can't tell if this is serious or not. Any other game, I'd be like "Oh, you guys", but with SR:TT...dude, anything goes. That's an impressive feat that they've accomplished, that they can say all this, and I can just nod at it silently with a straight face. *slow clap*

Remember the time they announced that Jak and Daxter game on April Fool's Day, and then it turned out it wasn't a joke? That was pretty funny.

It would make sense if it was to me. As written it sounds similar to Red Dead Redemptions Undead Nightmare, which was very successful as a ridiculous stand alone expansion. A shorter version of Saints Row with even crazier gameplay and humor would make sense. The running and jumping they mention makes it sounds like Crackdown, which would be AWESOME. Combing the two games best elements could be crazy.

Now, if this is fake, this is a TERRIBLE joke. First of all is the fact that Saints Row the Third's DLC has been terrible so far, so to tease people like this would be a slap in the face. But the biggest thing to me is that anything is believable in Saints Row now, so where is the joke here really? Other April Fools day jokes make sense because they add ridiculous humor that doesn't make sense. This would just be a stupid trick, not a joke.

That makes me guess that this is real, because it would be a great idea and because this type of common April Fools day gaming company joke wouldn't make sense with Saints Row. That might make this a marketing strategy, with the confusion creating some interest. That'd be smart too.

Nope. I rented and played Red Dead on PS3, then bought Undead Nightmare on 360. You can just buy Undead Nightmare and play all that content and the multiplayer. I believe all of the multiplayer too not just the new zombie modes.

As I said it did very well for them too.

You can buy a disc-based Undead Nightmare that is standalone. It includes all over DLC on it aswell, and multiplayer is the same as regular RDR, so it was an amazing price for the content.

There is also a downloadable version of it that you can buy either by itself or bundled with all the DLC, but afaik only the disc version is standalone.

So I guess this definitely is just a prank? What a poor joke. After the bad DLC they have put out it's kind of bad taste plus the fact that the joke isn't a joke when crazier things than this expansion happen in Saints Row the Third proper.
