The Saints Row games have traditionally been open-world, mission-based crime-themed games. The gameplay shares similarity to that of the Grand Theft Auto series.
But I feel like at this point Saints Row needs at least just to survive and we would be lucky to get even a decent game anywhere in the near future regardless of the overall tone/setting.
I'd rather Saints Row continue to be insane and actually funny, compared to the garbage that was those first two games (Saints Row 2 is one of the worst games I can ever remember playing). By all means, dial it back a bit from Matrix super-god, but keep the ridiculousness. Saints Row 3 and 4 were actually funny and likeable, unlike their predecessors.
