Sarah Hamilton is an American actress who has voiced national ad campaigns for companies like Sony, CoverGirl cosmetics, and Campbell soup company, but is best known within the gaming community as the voice of April Ryan in The Longest Journey franchise of adventure games. As the lead protagonist in the first game, Hamilton's role involved so much dialogue that she put in approximately eighty hours over ten consecutive days, often participating in live recording session with the other cast members to give their characters a more natural rapport. She reprised the role in the 2006 sequel Dreamfall, and both games were widely recognized for the uncommonly high quality of their voice work.
Hamilton was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2002 and cancer in 2004, but both diseases remain in remission thanks to a series of successful treatments. She credits these diagnoses as the inspiration for her extensive charity work for Statement Arts, a non-profit organization that specializes in conducting artistic workshops for kids in poor and disadvantaged areas.
