    Scribblenauts Remix Review

5th Cell has decided that their very popular words game, Scribblenauts, needed to be on more than just the DS. So the decision was made to re-vamp the game, give it 50 levels and put it on the iPad. You will once again be taking on your favorite character as always, and will have to use your dictionary in your brain to come up with creative solutions to solve puzzles.

Graphically this looks as good if not better than the DS, simply because of the increase in screen size. Even with the increase in screen size, the resolution doesn't suffer, there's no stretching of pixels, and because of the art design of the game there's just no way that graphically something was going to go wrong.

The music in the game is very basic, but that's not a surprise as the previous games really didn't try to blow the gamer away with their music.

The controls take a bit of time to get used to. You can play the game where you touch the screen and Maxwell will move to that location, or you can turn on controls. Personally I turned on the controls which causes to analog buttons to appear at the bottom of the screen and allow you to easily move and then also move the camera. In either setup when it comes to writing out the name of the object or thing you want to create you're going to be using the built in keyboard.

I was really excited to play Scribblenauts again, and this game definitely didn't disappoint. There were a couple of puzzles that I felt were recycled, but overall I have to say I was happy with what I had. There were some issues with the game, however. First off for some reason there were times while playing the game that the keyboard became very finicky. I would exit the game and go into something else and the keyboard would work just fine. There were also the times where I thought I solved a level correctly, but wasn't given credit, which I guess can just be seen as a difference of opinion. Finally there was your score that you'd see at the bottom of the screen after completing a level. They had a nice green font chosen to show it to you, but for some reason I got a regular text number next to a green zero, which leads me to believe that this game might have gotten out a little to early. There's also the issue of the game really just ending all of a sudden. When you're playing through the game and you get through the last level it just kind of shoots you back to one of the menus. There's no thanks for playing, or some message to try to beat your score it just ends. Then if you go to the level select and you're switching between constellations, if you go to the last one and then try to scroll, it feels like there should be something else there, but there isn't. I do like the fact that if you know some of the names of the people who worked on the game you can throw them into a level, but I didn't like the fact that the teleporter no longer takes you to a secret room.

If you're looking for more Scribblenauts and have an iPad, this is definitely something to check out. Sure there are a couple little issues here, and there, but over all this is a fun game, and one that you probably already know what you're getting into. If all the issues that I have were addressed this game would be getting a high grade, but since there is room for improvement, I'm going to have to give this game a 7.3 out of 10.
