I am not a card game fan so I don't know how comparable these games are but I am wondering how people are liking this game, especially now that Blizzard has released its own card game Hearthstone. Seems to me like this sorta quietly went into beta and I haven't heard people talk about it since, meanwhile Hearthstone is blowing up in big ways.

So I was wondering man, can you cast Scrolls while in a bubble?

@original_hank: I really enjoy Scrolls, I think it's interesting how it isn't just "another card game." It combines aspects of turn based strategy and board games whereas HearthStone just seems to be a normal ass Magic The Gathering style card game with very little in the way of uniqueness other than WoW branding.

Although, I can definitely appreciate Blizzard's polish and attention to detail. People like the shiny things, makes sense. One thing that Scrolls has that is far superior to HearthStone, is that you can actually trade your cards. And that's because you can't just buy packs like you can in HearthStone. A card game without trading is madness in my opinion, that's like 90% of the fun to me.

You are right though, Scrolls has a very small audience, which is a shame. HearthStone is, and will continue to be, huge.

They play differently enough that you could easily play both if you wanted to (and throw SolForge in there, too).

Also, if you're interested in playing Hearthstone but aren't in the beta, go download Shadow Era; Hearthstone plays about 95% identically to it.. It's also a F2P CCG that came out several years ago, but it has a better F2P system in that you can buy individual cards for in-game currency instead of being forced to just buy booster packs and hope you pull what you want (or doing the disenchanting stuff in Hearthstone, but from what I can tell the prices for that are completely insane).

Hearthstone is fun but so ridiculously random that losing never feels satisfying; never feels like the guy outplayed you in any way, never feels like you could learn anything from them.

Well, you can get scrolls right now, whereas it's really hard to get into Blizzard's closed beta...

Scrolls also has some people playing it, and while it's small right now, getting it is essentially a preorder, much like Minecraft. I don't really have faith in it, but I think I got my 20 bucks out of it (well, I spent an extra 10 to get some precons but I'm an anomaly; it's really hard to spend real money in Scrolls).

I enjoy Magic the Gathering, I even bought a one of the Magic videogames but I never really enjoyed it in video game form.

Hearthstone in the other I hand.. I've play it everyday since I got into the beta, there is something to be said about Blizzard attention to detail. As some people point out: sometimes loosing feels random and unfair, but it is still a beta and they balancing stuff almost every day.

Heartstone is fun and addictive, I can see it having a huge community once released.
