Its already available on the US PSN Store and Europe will be coming up this afternoon (16:30 for the dutch folk)

The PS3 version took so long to arrive i had almost forgot how much i was looking forward to this game,
As a way to soften the long wait we get two maps extra and a additional game mode for the price of free.
Playstation+ users will also get the original section 8 included in their package and a free exclusive skin for the first 1000 buyers

Free spawn, spawn anywhere on the map you want
Multiple ammo types to customize your weapons
huge array of modules to specialization your character, wanna jump higher? run faster? fire more accurate? heal faster? etc well you cant have them all so prepare to spend hours fine tuning your equipment load outs.
Earn credits from kills to freely spawn vehicles anywhere on the map (tanks, bikes, mechs!)
Earn credits from kills to freely spawn deployables like defensive turrets, radar dishes to expose enemies and supplys to heal and restock your team mates
    Jet packs!
32 Player multiplayer! (suck on that BF3)

    No Caption Provided
This all and more for the cheap cheap price of 15 bucks

The downside well its a budget game, you get awesome unique features like the deployable system and character customization that completely alter your gameplay  but at the end of the day it just wont feel as refined as a CoD or battlefield. I have spend 60+ hours in the original section 8 and i can tell you that the game will feel arcade-y with its re-genning shields and jet packs. The constantly changing battle environment (due to the deploy-able system) and you can never be sure what opponent you're fighting with the div-rent ammo types and character setups that this game demands a high grade of adaptability and opportunism if you wish to be successful.

Leave a comment on wether you plan on picking this up,
perhaps the wait was too big and you have already lost interest at this point, decided to pick it up on a diverent platform, the game simply does not appeal to your refined tastes. or like me plan on buying the game the moment it comes available.

Yeah this game is a blast so far, have been in a bi of a gaming dredge lately where i cant really get absorbed into the games anymore and this is the first one in a long while where i can sink in hours upon hours and not notice time fly by.

The amount of customisation  available is pretty mindblowing. it appears you have atleast 4 to 5 ammo types available for any of the weapons that drasticly change their use.
and you dont just get 4 diverent types of assault rifles, the weapons you select are just the archetypes, its the ammo that decides how it will be used. And the modules, so much choise again. people are quickly learning where the hot spots on the map are and place theyr deployables accordingly,

The 3 biggest divergences for anyone who has played the first game:
    1. They have toned down the jet packs recharge time so you cant be semi immortal simply by constantly bunny hopping from cover to cover
    2. Vehicles handle ALOT smoother now, they got rid of the mechs twitchy aiming and the tank has a small hover jump to get unstuck from terrain
    3. Armor is now a straight HP pool instead of being appendage oriented. this stops you from randomly falling down after a single hit just because someone pierced your left hand, while cool on paper it made your survival very random in the first game

At the end of the day i cant think of anything they have not improved over the first game, the guys at timegate really listened to their audience and seemed to have picked up pretty much any sane criticism and build from it. hell even the campaign is surprisingly developed i cant grasp why this game is not on store shelves for 60 bucks, certainly i have seen allot worse on there! Those guys like money too right?

The Campaign does a pretty good job at tutorialising the many aspects of the game. and they made alot of  additional assets like maps, buildings and enemies exclusive to the campaign.  Yes the bots are dumb as bricks and resort to alot of the quake style strafing but that is no less than expected from a multiplayer focussed game.

As a tutorial the campaign is very well rounded and alot more than what they could have gotten away with at its 15$ price point. But hey for anyone with enough experience to just skip i would just do that, head straight online where the real meat of the game is.

Having a lot of fun with it and have played over 5 hours of multiplayer since yesterday.
The only thing I think is "iffy" is the spawn system. It seems cool, but shooting at one guy, and having another rain down onto your head or behind you, is very annoying.
Oh, also, the lock-on. Why is that there?

Yeah, i will have to to do that, cause i can't force my self through the SP campaign on this game.

I can only guess that the main reason would for the sake of balance, it counters the jetpacs.  The first game also had the lock on feature but it did not work at all actually causing you to miss more shots than with manual aim on non stationary targets, because of this you simply could not die from gun fire in 1 on 1, both players would just continously be bunny hopping from cover to cover while healing themselves with the repair tool

Recharge rate of jetpacks now have been drasticly toned down and so is the duration of its cooldown.
You can choose to invest some module slots to increase the duration and recharge rate but do keep in mind that its ineffective on most players. The community is still young and there are already a considerable amount of players running around with jammer beacons, EMP weapons, and modules that  drasticly  reduce its  effectiveness.

Its a feature, that actually adds as much strategy as it takes away. flying too high out in the open WILL get you killed. If  you find yourself getting picked off too fast then i can suggest using a couple of stealth modules,  this makes sure people have to target you for X seconds before they can lock-on. those precious seconds can save your skin

People can only lock on to scanned targets, you become scanned by:
    - being targeted for X seconds. (stealth modules increase this and stack beyond 100%)
    - when you fire at anyone you are instantly scanned
    - being in range of a hostile radar(/beacon)
    - alternatively you can hide by using a jamming beacon this causes you to stay hidden even after firing

Also EMP weapons drain the lock on meter, lock on can only be used when the meter is at 100% so even a single emp shot will render it useless.
After a while choosing when to use it becomes second nature, the general rule is to use it as a finisher not a opener.

I'm pretty much on the fence on this game, I've been wanting a FPS to play online for some time and while I'd like to buy KZ3 this game looks like it could scratch the same itch with a lot less money, I know it wont be the same quality or polish but the barrier of entry is much smaller.

I can not recommend campzone for its multiplayer aspect, the game has some serious balance issues, Now this is specific from one person to the next but i personally find it really nagged on me how literally half or more of any room would be the sniper class with either a assault rifle or the equally rediculous 1-shot-anywhere-on-the-body-guaranteed-kill. This class receives a complete invisibility ability on a 20 second cooldown btw.
Also its a technical step down from KZ2 in virtually every respect.
    - no lobby system
    - No proximity chat
    - Maps are ALOT smaller
    - Trivial diversity in weapons, there is literally no reason to ever pick the first gun for any class after unlockking the superior 3d one.

On the plus side, campzone3 should only be 20 bucks if you order online,
TLDR version: if you have played KZ2 before it you will be reminded of the shortcomings of its successor every waking moment. if you treat it as a standalone item its just another shooter with balance issues like so many others.

This is the BS you will be up against in campzone 3 - Do note the automated rifle completely trivialising his selection of a sniper class + the ludicrous recharge rate of his ability on the bottom left

thanks for pointing those things out, and sadly I wouldn't be able to purchase it that cheap since in Mexico the price still has the just released price point and that in today's exchange rates would roam around $80, luckily this doesn't happen with Section 8 since it's through PSN and the game retains the $15 price point, I guess you can't really go wrong with that low barrier of entry for the insane amount of content you get, just one last question, how bit is the community so far?

On a little side note I always fin it a little heart-breaking when I get into a downloadable game that relies a lot on the competitive side of things, Fat Princess comes to mind where any lobby you get into is full of bots, anyway if the community is big enough to get into games with no bots I'll purchase this during this weekend and will surely be playing saturday and sunday night.

Well right now in just the Conquest mode there are 117 people,  With both 1 USA and 1 EU server at max capacity the rest is spread out a bit
Personally i prever the rooms with max 26 players, any more and it quickly degrades to a tug of war.

Edit: turns out i had some filters on, easily 200+ players in conquest mode tonight

@Questionable: the player count just keeps rising 250-300 players at high time.

Don't forget the Steam version is also on sale atm for those who prefer the PC for their shooters
