If you know Japanese culture, it probably doesn't surprise you that Sega advertised the Saturn in Japan with the help of manly console mascot Segata Sanshiro.  It also might not surprise you to know that Segata Sanshiro toys were made.  But very few men are manly enough to have their own theme song:
