    Overview

    The Devil Kings series, or Sengoku Basara in Japan, was created by Capcom as an answer to Koei's Dynasty Warriors series. Featuring similarly over-the-top character designs in a hack-and-slash game in a setting inspired by feudal Japan, early titles in the series were released in the west under the moniker "Devil Kings" with all references to Japanese figures and history removed. The first entry to see a western release with the historical content in tact was Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes.
