I've always loved Serious Sam's marketing.  The marketing for the HD re-releases was great.

I also should have posted that if you've never played a Serious Sam game, this will go right over your head.

I do enjoy me some good classic style FPS. Also, Sam? I expect good quotes from you. The worse they are the better.

You can't dodge a train if you can only move backwards and not left or right. They never learn!

In a video game world where "serious" shooters are a bit of a joke (I call them the top-40 music of the gaming industry), Serious Sam plays the way FPS games should. Realism, iron sites, regenerating health... it is all so bland and boring. If I am going to play an FPS game, it better be over the top or have some sort of righteous sci-fi alien weaponry otherwise I'm not interested. The fact that Serious Sam is alive and well shows that I am not alone. I remember when the first one came out and I bought it at Gamestop. Modern shooters were just starting to find their stride and the clerk at the desk actually snickered at me for buying it. Doesn't that just sum up the modern FPS crowd? They don't realize how big of a joke they really are. At least SS doesn't expect to be taken seriously. Don't you just love irony?

I wonder how many people will see that and think the "OH SHIT" is the only joke in that entire screen and complain that you can only move backward lol.

    Cannot wait, <3 SS.

It honestly looks like Call of Duty gameplay meshed with crazy story/enemies. You know what? I'm alright with that - very excited.

CoD came out almost 3 years after the first Serious Sam (which started development in 1996)... Ahh, to be young again. Kind of reminds me of the kids on Youtube saying every RPG looks like WoW. It used to bother me, but now I think it's kinda cute.

It's not anything like CoD at all, really (aside from them both being shooters).  Serious Sam is a horde shooter a la Doom on ultraviolence (though they play quite differently, all told).  You often fight literally small armies of enemies in usually very expansive environments with a large arsenal of exotic and powerful weaponry, and the gameplay has a heavy emphasis on using the right weapons for the right situations on the fly while evading enemies and projectiles with varying behaviors, managing your health and ammo relatively carefully (on normal or higher difficulties, at least) along the way.
