I was at Walmart tonight...

... and saw this game in the $20 bargain bin.

Did it really flop that bad? I never got around to playing it, but I know Alex liked it based on his review and I thought it got decent reviews on other sites as well. What happened?

No one bought it, unfortunately. EA did a pretty piss-poor job of marketing it, even though it was a pretty great game and received very well.

really sad and I do not understand it. thats a game that didn't deserve such a fate...buy it!

Yup it didn't sell very well, despite some positive reviews. It was due to bad marketing, I also think it's generic name did not help.

$20.00? I may have to buy this.

Yup.. terrible marketing.. I honestly have no idea what the hell this game is.. lol. I've been hearing it everywhere.. so I think I might check it out.. lol

The quick look on this site made it look pretty cool. From what I saw I would pay $20.00 for it for sure.

One of my top 10 games (so far) for 2011 for sure.

#9 Posted by DonPixel (2585 posts) -

It's a cool game but hey 2011 we got no time to waste with MW3 and BF3 around.. I mean who the hell plays anything other than that?

*that was a self remainder I shall stop wasting time grinding multiplayers.

It sold less than 20K units worldwide, so yes.

If you looked hard enough you may have been able to find my manhood in the bargain bin after the night I had working there :(

I bought the limited soundtrack, signed by Yamaoka-san, but I still haven't bought the damn game.

I feel like a complete asshole.

For $20 I might pick this one up next time I go to walmart.

wait you were somewhere in the future?

I saw the Bioshock 2 collectors edition for $20 at Walmart about a month ago, I don't think they know how to price games.

#16 Posted by ds8k (412 posts) -

EA did not market it at all. I only found out about it due to the guys talking about it maybe a week before it released. I'd like to pick it up but my backlog of games is astronomical in number.

EA did bad at marketing it. Also, when someone finds out the lead character is named Garcia Hotspur... you lose a lot of people. It also suffers from typical japanese design follies and so it is hard to get people on board when they are already iffy.

On one hand: Get great game on the cheap.

On the other hand: Have to go to Wal-mart

Hard decision.

So racism is to blame?

This is the curse of all Suda games, devoted fan base, solid critical reception, published by companies that have no clue what the fuck they're doing. Seriously, EA and Ubisoft do not have a single clue how to market these games.

Can't wait for the cycle to repeat all over again with Lollipop Chainsaw.

#21 Posted by shivermetimbers (763 posts) -

I bought it as $60 brand new because I'm a sucker for Suda51. It has a good campiness to it, though it is very easy on normal difficulty.

Nobody has an excuse now: You have to buy that game.

#23 Posted by shivermetimbers (763 posts) -

The only thing bad about the game was the big boner part. It was funny for the first wave, but it went on for four more waves and it controlled like a tank.

So true.

Really awesome game, that didn't sell for shit. If EA had marketed the game at all, it would probably have sold way better.
