    Overview

Shaquille O'Neal was an NBA basketball player and is currently retired . Shaquille O'Neal is often referred to as Shaq and is widely considered one of the best centers in the league. He has also played for the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns and the Cleveland Cavaliers. As a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, Shaq won three NBA championships. As a member of the Heat, he won another championship. In addition, he won a gold medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

Shaq's feud with former teammate Kobe Bryant is also well known. After winning three championships with the Lakers, Bryant and Shaq were considered one the top NBA duos of all time. In the 2004 NBA finals, the Lakers lost to the Detroit Pistons. As a result of this loss many coaching and staff changes were made. These coaching and staff changes angered Shaq. He felt these desicions were being made just to keep superstar Kobe Bryant happy. Shaq demanded a trade and was sent to Miami where he would meet another young superstar with huge potential named Dwayne Wade. In his second season with the Heat Shaq won his fourth championship.

The last few years have seen Shaq get traded annually. In 2008 he was traded once again; this time to the Phoenix Suns. The Miami Heat recieved Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks in return. In 2009 Shaq was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and in 2010 signed with the Boston Celtics.

On June 1st, 2011, Shaq announced his retirement after 19 seasons in the NBA.

    Appearances in Video Games

Despite his appearance in numerous games in the NBA franchise, O'Neal is probably best known in video games for fantastical 1994 fighting game Shaq Fu, a title that was critically panned but has received a cult following.
