You Can Buy The Shatter Soundtrack
Giant Bomb's Friday Favorite Friend, get2sammyb, brings us this incredible piece of knowledge by way of our message boards. The soundtrack to Sidhe's block-blasting PlayStation Network release, Shatter, is available for streaming and for purchase right over here.
The purchase is one of those "pay what you think it's worth" sort of deals, with a minimum price of $9.99. I had a moment where I realized that the soundtrack actually costs more than the game that it appears in--Shatter is available now in the PlayStation Store for $7.99--and almost backed away. But the soundtrack's good enough that I went ahead and bought it anyway. You should at least give it a quick stream if you're into this sort of thing.
Oh, and I'll have a review of Shatter next week, but my first impression is that it's pretty rad. Hopefully it stays that way.

" The soundtrack costs more than the game?
So why wouldn't I...
Just...
Buy the game?
Backs away. "
Because you can't listen to the game on your CD-player/MP3-box-machine/tape deck/8-track player?
Listening to it now. Sounds good. The game has some nice music. I'll probably end up buying it once I have the money to do so.
I totally noticed that the game was cheaper than the soundtrack but whatever, like you say, it's totally worth the money.
It would be nice if 7.99 was the standard for DL games. If this was 14.99 I'd say hell no, but 7.99 I can deal with. (referring to the game, not the OST)
I hear the (Credits Music) song and all I can think of as that guitar line plays is that damned song "Poker Face."
And I've only heard it once while at a party. ugh.
Shatter kinda flew over my radar good thing Jeff mentioned it and that it's getting reviewed.
EDIT: Damn, the music is good.
good soundtrack is immediately apparent once the first level starts. i'll warn, though, the game is 8 bucks for a reason. if u play through it once without continuing, u have pretty much gotten everything you can out of it. after that theres a boss mode and bonus mode. both are quick and are fun mini-modes. after that, that's it. no online play. no more trophies. i'd say its worth about 8 bucks :)
wtf is Shatter? i think i skipped over a lil blue box on the PSN store that said Shatter. was that it? even if i do click Shatter's box what will i get? a small picture of digital box art and a short text description? no wonder nothin sells on PSN.
I'll try answer a few of the questions here - I was fortunate enough to produce the Shatter Soundtrack with Module.
We realised that the pricing was going to work out higher than the actual game itself, but we decided to stick to the '0.99' cents per track standard. With 13 tracks in the soundtrack, you get a discount over purchasing each track seperately.
We werent too concerned about the streaming on Bandcamp, cause like most things digital, it found its way onto the torrent sites very quickly. With Bandcamp, the great part is that you can download it in very high quality or even lossless formats like FLAC. In the coming weeks, it will be up on itunes, amazon etc, and hopefully if there is enough interest we will put out a collectors edition CD with concept art from the game.
Its fantastic to see such a strong response to the music. Module worked incredibly hard and put a lot of love into it. His partner actually had a baby yesterday, so he's been offline, but I've been forwarding online comments to him and he's on 'cloud 9' at the moment!
Cheers,
Jos
i played some shatter last night but i couldn't beat jeff's high score. i'm still pretty bad at the game actually. but i must agree that my initial impression is one of radness.
Charging more for the soundtrack than the game... which has the soundtrack in it... makes me back away from it. And I really love that soundtrack. I just can't support it on that principle. Had they made the minimum price $5, I could swallow that. But PixelJunk Monsters and Eden set the standard. $2.99 game soundtracks. Yes.
This and the Wipeout HD pack makes me NEED a ps3, Oh the days of Psygnosis, how I miss yee. My first system was a nes followed by genesis, followed by snes, then psone followed by nostalgic jag, and glorious dcast. And so forth through the times.
But... I have Shadow Complex to look forward too, so..... even steven. Not really, I'm the firestarter sick twister firestarter!
