My xbox broke back in June, but due to a problem with shipping it didn't actually get sent for repair on Monday. I'm from Norway, which has the longest average repair time of any country in Europe(16 days, I think), so I figured I'd buy a new PS2. I bought a PS2 in early 2001, but after seven years of use it can't read discs anymore and I have a lot of PS2 games, so I figured better get one now before I can't get one anywhere.

However, before my PS2 broke I had bought Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call (or Nocturne) and I played about an hour of it. While I don't remember much from it, other than it being a little drab, watching the Persona 4 endurance run leaves me thinking maybe I should give the game another chance. However, my Xbox got fixed almost right away(which makes me think they didn't really fix it, but I'll see when I get it back) and my Xbox backcatalog is huge (not to mention upcoming games like Dishonored and Hitman).

So, is this game worth another look?

the core systems of the game aren't the same as the last few persona games, so it's not as fast paced of an rpg combat wise. but that said it is very solid in it's own right. i would say if you are an rpg fan, not just a persona fan, then continue on with the game.

    Yeah, you should.

When I first tried the game I hated it but after a year passed I came back and grew to love it.

Its definitely a game that grows on you over time, after a while you start to enjoy its atmosphere and style.

This was exactly me. Then it became one of my favorite games of all-time.

Nocturne is worth a second, third, fourth, fifth look. It's still the best game Atlus has ever made.

Yes, you should play Nocturne. Know that the game is not as forgiving as the last two Persona games. If the party leader dies, the game ends. Frequent random encounters and environmental hazards. That said, I love the art direction, the character design and the music. I wish ATLUS would re-release that game for PSN. SMT: Nocturne has the best dungeon music I have heard.
