I played P3 but never finished and never tried FES either. Has anyone played it before? Should I try the main game (the journey) and then the answer (the expansion with Aegis) or the other way around...
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Apr 19, 2007
This expanded edition of Persona 3 adds additional content and a continuation of the original game's storyline.
Anyone picking up Persona 3 FES...
Play The Journey first, then start The Answer and see if you like it. If not, it might be a good idea to just watch a Let's Play for it.
The Answer is set a little while after the events of The Journey so don't play that first, it would spoil some plot points aswell if you did so. I personally already own this on disk and definitely got my money's worth although, I completed The Journey I couldn't bring myself 'round to carry on playing to finish the expansion. I think I got burned out on it; it's a looooooooong game!

I though this one let you choose male or female, but I guess that the PSP, right?
Yeah, but don't think that you're missing out. The PSP version doesn't even let you walk around areas, it's kinda messed up, FES is still the ultimate and best way to play P3 in my opinion. It's a fantastic game. Definitely play Journey first, then Answer, the Answer isn't so great but if you really can't get enough of P3 then it's worth a play.
Play the Journey. Skip The Answer altogether since it kinda messes up the characters but if you're curious just YouTube the cutscenes since they only form a small part of The Answer.
It's great that they've released it on PS3 since it's a truly unique JRPG but I won't be buying it since I have P3: FES and P3P which I've played at least six times altogether...
Yup, installed a played a bit of it. My only Persona experience is the Endurance Run, so it's cool to finally play one. Bummed that you can't directly control your team, though.
I got about 4-5 hours from the end when my PS3 YLOD and I had to send it in to get fixed. When I got it back I lost my memory card with my save. Don't have the patience to play back through it though. Didn't really care for the story/characters myself.
Dang I just got out of playing P3:FES in its entirety not too long ago. I love it to death but it's a little too soon for me. Maybe I'll pick it up sometime in the distant future.
Despite not being able to walk around I still think P3P is the best version, the fast travel makes it so much snappier, and being able to control everyone in battle is nothing short of a god send.
I also think the Persona format is just very well suited to a hand held, playing in short burst is much more enjoyable for me.
Ten bucks! It's such a crazy value, I bought it again just to have it on my PS3. I assumed it would be $30 or something.
Annoyingly though, I have an old-ass HDTV that only does 1080i, but this game thinks 720p is close enough. Apparently this is an issue with all the PS2 Classics. I have to go into the display settings and set it to 480p whenever I want to play, whereas PS3 games will do it automatically. Seems like an easy issue to fix, but because of how rare it probably is, I'm not sure they will.
How does one go about "picking up" a game that is not physical but rather data that is stored on a hard disk drive?

Iv owned Fes since 2008 and love it still. I have 4 save files with 100+ hours on each. Play "the journey" then the answer afterwards as the answer is technically afterwards. Also, I am giving the OP a big ole Middle finger as now i just bought another game that I already own thx to ps3 not having backwards anymore. Would have been happy never knowing this was on PSN

I sure hope we Euroes get this and not 'Barbie Little Mermaid Crabaction' or something equally as terrible this week.
Hey, I love me some of Barbie's Crab Action.

Can't fuck Ken. Inferior version. You could get with Ken in the PSP version?
YES.
Best version.Already have it on my PS2, not to mention the copy of P3P that I got when my friend gave me his PSP. Ehhh. I'm loving the direct control and the female social links, but there is a certain level of atmosphere that is... lost in transition. Whatever. For $10, Persona 3 FES is an incredible deal.

Create a US account, purchase a US PSN card from sites such as cheapxboxlivecodes.com and I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get it like that.
@James_Giant_Peach: So having new encounters, improved combat, a bigger soundtrack and several brand new social links is inferior to being able to run around in town?
...Alright man, whatever.
I have a PS2 disc version already. I toyed with the idea since I currently am without a PS2 (my b/c PS3 broke this past Christmas), but if I am going to pay for another version of what is absolutely one of my all-time favorite games, I'd like some new content, so I'll probably pick up P3P when I eventually get a Vita. It doesn't have The Answer but my real interest lies in playing the female-protagonist plot line.
