Look out, it's a MONKEYBEAR!
If you've been watching our Endurance Run series, where we blaze a trail through the majesty and the pagentry of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 on a daily basis, then I wanted to quickly say thank you for sticking with us on this. It's been an interesting experiment so far, and it's also been a solid justification for me and Vinny to see the events of Persona 4--which is something I'd probably never see for myself if left to play it in my spare time.

I'm bringing this up now because it seems like our daily series has gotten a lot of people--including plenty of people who would never normally give a game like this a first look, let alone a second or third--interested in Persona 4. It just so happens that today's Amazon "Video Games Deal of the Day" lines up with our shared interest in attending school, putting our hands inside of TVs, and wondering if Chie will ever shut up and relax.

So if you've been thinking about picking up Persona 4, Amazon has it today for just under $26. Considering the number of hours it'll take a person to complete, that's kind of a steal. Kind of makes me wish I hadn't picked it up back in December for full price, but then, if I hadn't done that, we probably wouldn't be producing these videos now.

In case you haven't seen the videos and have no idea what I'm saying, here's the first installment of our Persona 4 endurance run.

Haven't seen the videos?!? Blasphemy!

Who hasn't been watching? I want names!

I think my enjoyment comes from your commentary more than the gameplay.

Can't wait for this game to come out in Europe... just 18 more days and its preordered as of today :D

Sounds like a good deal. I've been loving the videos, and they not only have me interested in Persona 4, but Persona 3 as well. A friend of mine told me that Persona 3 was uninteresting, but clearly he just wasn't viewing it with the right GiantBomb-infused lens.

Those not watching the endurance run videos need to be beaten...severely.

#8 Posted by LordAndrew (14419 posts) -

I recommend buying it too. Do it, people! I find it's actually more enjoyable playing the game than watching someone else play it. You don't get the full experience just by watching.

For anyone interested... Persona 4 hits the UK on the 13th of March 2009 according to Amazon.co.uk... you can start your endurance run for £17.99.

Heres the Amazon link... Persona 4 (PS2): Amazon.co.uk

At that price I might order a copy myself.

I wish I could buy it on that deal! Good price, for sure. A steal!

#11 Posted by Citizenking (25 posts) -

I would never play this game, even for $26!  But, this has to be one of the best new series of videos you guys are producing.  Can you make a page that has all persona videos easily accessible.  Im finding it hard to catch up if i miss a few days.

Thanks for the series.

I wish I had something to play the game ON.  I'd get a second hand PS2 just to give it a shot if I had the cash.

I gave up on Persona 4 after about fifty hours. That game is really fun but eats your damn life. You also can't get the real ending the first play through. Since I had no interest in playing it twice plus the fact I that I was, I suspect, only 3/4 done I put it down. Fun game, ends lives.

Good it, played, finish it. Time to complete 60 hours if greatness, good luck guys.

No beating.
Maybe a little torture:  tie them to a chair and make them view TANG movies instead.

Persona 3 is an awesome game. If  miss the daily deal- or if you just enjoy random over the top commentaries on death and what it means to you- get a copy of Persona 3:

I'm pretty sure you can. I think you just did it wrong.

Hell ya! I ordered my copy from Amazon couple of hours ago. Can't wait for it to arrive on Friday!!!!!!
Make sure it's sold and shipped from Amazon so you can get the bonus goodies.
The GB crew is THE BEST!

hah thats funny, was checking if Amazon added Release Date delivery for RE5 yet and nope they haven't and noticed that Persona 4 took a price cut and got it for 28 bucks after tax and went with free shipping cause I won't be playing it for a while to say the least but the endurance run videos have gotten me into it. Figured to save 12 bucks + tax compared to EBGames was worth it, it'll join my shelf of other unplayed titles for a bit, hopefully I get around to it before the Endurance Run videos are finished :p

@LordAndrew: You might be right. I was just editing my post to say that I had heard that not that I knew. But yeah even the possibility of getting a bad ending after all that would end me. This game is no slouch.

I finally sat down and finished Persona 4 over the weekend.

Can not recommend it enough; well, if you can endure sitting through the intro.

That image will be haunting my nightmares.

Monkeybear knows where the penis goes...

After I get and finish Chrono Tigger for the DS I might actually dig out my PS2 and attempt this.

#24 Posted by dvorak (1496 posts) -

I'm way ahead of the videos now, but it's really entertaining regardless to hear the Giant Bomb commentary track.

The endurance run episodes are awesome.

#26 Posted by NorthHorizon (8 posts) -

I just picked it up on Amazon.  Thanks Jeff.  I've been enjoying the Endurance Run a lot and have gained a lot of interest in the game.

Although I was disappointed that the kids in Persona 4 didn't shoot themselves in the head anymore.  Oh well.

I love the videos, but I couldn't see myself playing though a game like this, but that is a great price

#28 Posted by Reverseface (1221 posts) -

I'd never play the game cause it would take forever to complete but this endurance run is awesome, get to see the game plus its HELLA FUNNY!

#29 Posted by strangeling (1260 posts) -

@Citizenking

Look here.
On the Persona 4 page, you can choose VIDEOS from the left side.

Damn it. Now I'm going to end up buying this, and I haven't even finished P3 yet.

#31 Posted by AllanIceman (1322 posts) -

Love the endurance run, don't stop!

#32 Posted by Junpei (714 posts) -

If you don't mind a challenge definately pick it up. Some boss fights will crush you if you aren't prepared.

#33 Posted by Diamond (8634 posts) -

I was thinking of buying it for a while, decided to order it on Amazon, despite the other dozen or so brand new titles being released or that I just purchased.

#34 Posted by PLWolf (919 posts) -

Sad state of affairs when I can't even drop $26 down to get an awesome game.

#35 Posted by RHCPfan24 (8609 posts) -

Your endurance runs are great. I bought it at full price but recommend it highly to anyone to buy this. It is a great game, and has a lot of value in it.

#36 Posted by m1k3 (1325 posts) -

Just ordered it from Amazon. Now i have to find a way to balance playing this, SFIV, and finishing up Valkyria Chronicles

#37 Posted by HatKing (5785 posts) -

I don't think I could play through this game myself, but I do enjoy your commentary and watching you guys play it.  I think I'd find myself falling asleep on the couch while playing this.

#38 Posted by ThePelinal (101 posts) -

These videos are great.  In fact, I've really been enjoying the flood of new video material on the site lately.  Especially the quick looks of games that would otherwise never get video reviewed (or even reviewed).  More quick looks of terrible games!

#39 Posted by MeatSim (10739 posts) -

Is the 4 hour intro worth sitting through though again after watching it through the endurance run?

#40 Posted by BiggerBomb (6944 posts) -

NO ADVERTISING ON THE FORUMS, JEFF! Haven't you read the FAQ?!...

I kid, I kid....but seriously.

#41 Posted by Afroman269 (7387 posts) -

Look out the bear is gonna rape you!!!!!!!!

#42 Posted by Grimjim8000 (93 posts) -

has been awesome so far.... must continue!

#43 Posted by Soap (3561 posts) -

I really love these videos. Finally it feels like this site has yet another thing to make it unique from other game sites, I can only hope you keep it up even if I do doubt you will get to the end with this game lol.

nice

#45 Posted by Death_Burnout (3792 posts) -

Yeah i've been tempted by those videos, and as much as i prefer that style of JRPG (especially a more mature one at that) i still dont like JRPG's personally, i'd never get round to finishing it, they are games i like to watch instead, and...oh! hey! you guys are playing it, so that means i can watch it. It all works out :)

The Persona series is great though.

When it's released in Europe I'll see what I can do.

#47 Posted by creamclouds (226 posts) -

That deals no good for me. I live in the UK.
However, I'll be getting it for £17.99 over here in March.
thats $26

#48 Posted by DrRandle (1202 posts) -

These videos are awesome, guys. Thank you.

#49 Posted by Red (5994 posts) -

That's awesome. It comes with the soundtrack too. I live in Singapore (and just got FES) so I won't be picking it up, but it is a total steal.

#50 Posted by Axion (51 posts) -

Has anyone said anything about how much fun these endurance run videos have been and how that's one of the things that makes this their favorite place on the webs for vidya gamin'? They have? Oh, ok. Nevermind, then.
