Jeff / Vinny Review of P4

#1 Posted by Fantus1984 (52 posts) -

Hey all,

Just finished watching the P4 endurance run and it was pretty amazing.

However do you know if Jeff or Vinny did a review or a sum up of the game anywhere and changes they would make to the game? Did a quick search of the podcasts around the time they finished and can't see anything.

@Fantus1984: You know, I don't think there ever was any sort of retrospective. I think they talked about it on the Podcasts a bit, but nothing super substantial.

They put a hundred hours into a video game over a matter of seven months. That's about as much review as you need.

Yeah, I believe Jeff said practically the exact same thing a while ago as well.

They talked about P4 on the Bombcast after the ER was finished, but not for a substantially long time or anything. I think there's a problem with the viewer if they went through the whole Endurance Run and still need something that tells them how Jeff and Vinny felt about the game.

2009's 2008 Game of the Year

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4

We laughed, we cried, we cast Bufu on things. Clocking in at 99 hours of actual playtime, Persona 4 was easily the game from last year that we spent the most time with in 2009. Persona 4 literally took over our lives for the better part of a year, and everyone in the office was affected in one way or another. It wasn't just the time spent with it that burned it into our souls, it was also the fact that it's, frankly, an incredible game. The writing and story, while insane at times, always come across as sincere, in a an odd, localized way. So what if people are falling into televisions? You've still got crazy Japanese highschooler drama to deal with, like exams and watermelon parties. While 2009 had a host of big, fancy, current generation releases, we will never forget the time we spent with Charlie, Chie, and of course, Ghoul.

I don't think much else needs to be said.

If they had reviewed it in the first place, the Endurance Run probably wouldn't have been.

Your review is 99 hours and 59 minutes worth of video content.

Slightly more if you include alternate realities where bitches get Hama'd.

On the bombcast after he finished he said 5 stars if you were looking for a number.

I think I remember Jeff mentioning on the podcast not very long after it was finished that he started writing it, but it was never finished or something. It's not really necessary. They'd give it 5 stars.

That's exactly what I was thinking about when I read the post. That's it!

#12 Posted by Fantus1984 (52 posts) -

Yeah I guess with 99 hours I should know what they are thinking, but its always nice being able to read something.

Thanks for all those links :D

Seeing the ER is great 'cause they start goofing off and end super worried for the characters. The game totally won them over.

@procrasturbate: Game is amazing, played it for the first time this year and still awesome 4 years later
