What is with this game? The music is terrible and everything is so awful and shitty.

I know it has a cool story but I can't deal with this. I wanted to play the series from the beginning up to P4G but even with the updates it seems so horribly dated.

I bought the game on PSN a while ago because excitement and now there is only regret.

I like video games so this makes no sense to me. I should enjoy this game because I like this genre. I don't care if a game is old and dated, I play tons of old shit on my VITA every day.

Someone defend this game while I sulk in contempt.

I liked the part where if you mess up some dialogue choices midway through the game, you get a premature ending some hours later. After that I didn't feel compelled to play it anymore.

I don't blame you for not enjoying it. Try Persona 2.

I think the game is cool, but not everyone has to like it. It's all good.

You should just go straight to Persona 3.

The game hasn't aged well at all. Try again with P2.

You really don't need to play Persona 1 and 2 if you want to get the modern Persona experience.

I just played persona 3 and enjoyed it despite its flaws. I heard everything before 3 felt dated or was not even that good to begin with.

What? If you don't like a game then you don't like a game. Just because it's in a genre you like doesn't mean it's a game you're going to like.

Also Persona 3 is where the series completely changed.

Persona 1 and 2 don't have social links or voice acting so fuck them basically.

Now persona 3 and 4 two of the best games ever.

Yeah, Persona one was always intriguing to me, but I don't think I ever got far in it because I didn't understand much of it. Mind you, this was when i was over a decade ago, so I could be remembering wrong, but I think I had trouble following the story and things got too confusing for me and I quit after going into the giant tower or something. I dunno. I liked the idea of talking your way out of fights, but it all got quite old quite fast, I think.

I'ld probably jump straight into P4 Golden. Or go really crazy and play Megami Tensei on an emulator. But I think that would be a bad idea. So yeah, P4G.

Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 Golden are the games worth talking about...

Persona hasn't aged well at all and Persona 2 is just alright.

From the little I played of the PSP remake and what I've read on the internet and elsewhere, I get the impression that Persona 1 wasn't necessarily an outstanding member of the PS1 JRPG pantheon anyways and updating it to actually have a localization that made sense didn't change that fact.

Persona 2 ditches a few more of the main-series SMT roots, but it's still very much a game of that style. People seem to like it a lot more, but I can't speak to it personally. Innocent Sin has Hitler in it. That seems pretty cool.

Can a game be a 'you had to be there' experience? I remember playing this when it first came to the States years ago on the PS1 and loving it. I played the hell out of it, got the bad ending because of dialogue choices and then re-started, going after the hardest to get 5th member on my second playthrough. Loved this game then, probably couldn't play more than a few hours of it now.

Sorry dude. I tried to get into Persona 2. That didn't go super well either, so I feel your pain. If you haven't played Persona 3 or 4, I recommend you do that. Those games are where the series got good IMO. Everything before that seems pretty crappy to me, but hey, those games were the products of their times.

    P4 > P2IS > P3 > P1

Didn't play enough of P2:EP to give it a solid ranking, but it's probably better than P1.

Persona 1 (PSP) was such a pain to play. The biggest problem for me was the damn random battles that happens every 3 damn steps! Also the ending doesn't really pay off. I like Persona but I will not defend the remake at all.

Persona 2, 3, 4 are pretty good though!
