Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey for the Nintendo DS is an entry in the primary Shin Megami Tensei series. It centers around the exploration of a demonic dimension known as the Schwarzwelt.

Characters

Katakirauwa

A portentous pig-like creature of Amami Oshima lore. They have but one ear and no shadow.
Kazfiel

The angel of the oath. He is one of the 6 angels of death and watches over the lives of kings.
Kin-Ki

On of the four oni controlled by Fujiwara No Chikata. His body is so strong that it can't be pierced by any weapon in existence.
King Frost

King Frost rules over the entire Jack Frost race. He is powerful and larger than any ordinary Jack Frost.
Kingu

The son of Tiamat, as well as her consort. He was slain by Marduk, and mankind arose from his blood.
Kinmamon

An enigmatic god from ancient Japan. A relation to Amaterasu is implied from the few known sources of Kinmamon, which may suggest the deity is female.
Knocker

A sprite inhabiting the mines at Cornwall. Though generally good-natured creatures, they are said to despise whistling.
Koppa Tengu

The smaller, weaker of the Tengu. They possess only small amounts of spiritual power.
Koumokuten

One of the Four Heavenly Kings, also known as Virupaksha. He is guardian of the West.
Kresnik

A righteous vampire of Croatian lore. He takes on the forms of many animals in his fight with Kudlak.
Kuda

Japanese fox-spirits used by Kitsune-Tsukai. They are capable of possessing humans.
Kudlak

An evil vampire of Croatian lore. He transforms into a number of animals in his fight with Kresnik.
Kukunochi

A god of trees in Japanese mythology. He was born after Izanagi and Izanami had given birth to the land.
Kurama Tengu

The most powerful of the Japanese Tengu, who fend off evil spirits and bring good luck. Appears as a demon in the Shin Megami Tensei games.
Kusi Mitama

From Shinto, one of the four aspects of the soul. It brings good luck in health and medicine.
Kwancha

A ghastly demon of Nepali lore. He is said to live in the underworld and is widely associated with disease.
Lachesis

Lahkesis is one of the three Sisters of Fate, who determine the destinies of Gods and mortals alike. It is her duty to "embellish" the Threads of Fate, which then determines how a person lives their life.
Lakshmi

As Vishnu's wife, Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity in Hinduism. She emerged from the Sea of Milk as the gods churned it against the evil Asuras.
Legion

The one who is many. Consists of a nucleus surrounded by a multitude of bodies.
Lilim

Demons from the Jewish folklore. They are the children of Lillith and Samael.
Lilith

The first wife of Adam in Jewish lore. She refused to be submissive to Adam in sex, spurring God to banish her from Eden and condemning her to enter the wilderness, where she became a demon and Lucifer's mistress.
Loki

The infamous trickster of Norse mythology, Loki's keen tongue and gifted intellect make him a dangerous adversary. The Aesir are exceptionally wary when dealing with him, for provoking him would invite certain disaster.
Lorelei

A maiden of the Rhine River in German legend. She plays a similar role to the Sirens of Greek myth, luring sailors to their death with her enchanting voice.
Lucifer

Lucifer the fallen angel. Often used as a synonym for Satan; however, they are viewed as separate entities in some video games, and at times even exist alongside each other.
Macabre

The spirit of death mentioned in medieval oratorios. He bears a very similar visage to Death, or the Grim Reaper.
Makami

A divine beast that originates from Japanese mythology. They are used to ward off thefts and fires.
Makara

A sacred sea creature of Hindu mythology. It is depicted as some combination of stag, elephant, crocodile, and fish.
Mamedanuki

More commonly known as the Tanuki, shapeshifting raccoon-dogs of Japanese folklore. They have disproportionately large genitals, which they often use to cover themselves, taking on various forms.
Mara

Mara is the evil demon who tried to tempt Gautama Buddha out of reaching enlightenment. In the Shin Megami Tensei series he is infamous for his cockeyed appearance.
Masakado

He was a samurai during the Heian period. After a rebellion against the government he was killed and became regarded as a demigod.
