Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE
Game » consists of 11 releases. Released Dec 26, 2015
An Atlus-developed RPG for Wii U set in a modern-day world of music and art featuring characters and gameplay elements from Intelligent System's Fire Emblem franchise mixed with elements from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.
First Trailer
I knew there was a reason I had bought a Wii U. It seems like today's Nintendo Direct gave light to it.
@FluxWaveZ: That's somewhat more promising but I dunno, man. That 3DS Fire Emblem game doesn't have a European release date and Atlus has a terrible record. The two of them together? Let's just say I don't have my hopes up. I was half-joking anyway, the bigger issue is buying a Wii U. I bought a Vita for Persona 4, I don't think I can justify buying a Wii U for this.

This and the Wind Waker remake is starting to tempt me.
WHAT?! (One Google search of "Wind Waker remake" later) Dang, between those 2 games and the Platinum Games stuff I'm really tempted to get a Wii U too.
Well isn't this interesting...
I've never played any non Persona 3 or 4 SMT games, though. Anyone want to let me know what the other games are like?
@pyromagnestir: In the main SMT games you're recruiting demons into your party rather than equipping them as personas. Kind of like pokemon, but instead of throwing a ball at them, you have to ask nicely/bribe them/get lucky to have them join you. They also use a different combat system. The combat in the first two SMT games was nothing special, but they then adopted the Press Turn System which I personally love. It makes the combat challenging and strategic but it still keeps up a quick pace.
Also, this seems like a weird crossover to me, but they definitely have my attention.

You know, I'm perfectly fine with the Persona guys being excluded, but can we get some Raidou Kuzunoha up in this game? Dude's got sideburns of steel.
yeah we need raidou.
I said WOO when I saw the original SMT characters though
ALSO WHAT
I guess I have to finish a fire emblem game now
Also, I find it REALLY funny that the second character from Nocturne was Chiaki.
baal avatar u so crazy
In comparison to the recent Pokemon X Nobunaga's Ambition crossover, this one actually seems pretty reasonable. Just looking at the charcter art from the upcoming SMT IV and the latest FE release, it isn't all that difficult to imagine a middle ground between them, and a lot of the various Fire Emblem deities and creatures probably wouldn't look too out of place standing alongside some SMT demons.

I thought that was pretty funky too. You would think Yuko would have been a better choice.
@Rastopher:
Interesting...
I'm now wondering if this is going to be some kind of fighting game or an actual rpg that attempts to meld the two franchises together. I was hoping for an rpg, but the title and that brief trailer implies fighting game. They didn't clarify that point, did they?

I'm expecting a more complicated version of Devil Survivor (where it had tactical RPG overworld, but when you would battle you get into an RPG style fighting system for 2 turns.)
What the shit!? Where did this come from? Also, why aren't there any Jugdral characters in the trailer? I can understand the lack of Valencia characters, but no Jugdral characters?
Also, I'm gonna have to get a Wii U now.
Seems I'll eventually have to get a wiiU at some point now. I knew Nintendo would eventually get to me but I certainly didn't expect they would go in this direction.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm gonna guess it's on account of being an international trailer, and they felt like the presence of Jugdral dudes would be CONFUSING AND STARTLING.
Surely they can't pass 'em over in the actual game, though.
@Superkenon:
I'd say it's more because Nintendo absolutely hates the Jugdral games, because I think I saw Lilina in the back.
