What's going on here, you ask? Oh man, something exciting, my friend. Democracy is happening.
This is Democracy, a very unique way of playing the civilization building turn-based strategy game: Civilization.
You see, In a normal game of Civilization, the player is the sole decider. He is the leader and his word is law. He answers to no one.
In Democracy, this isn't true. The player is not the sole decider. Many of the decisions made in the game are not even his. He must answer not to himself but to his citizens and his senators. The player is "president" of the civilization, guiding his nation by the will of his citizens.
That president is me.
And those citizens are you.
Yes, as you may have gathered, Democracy is a totally crazy way of playing Civilization wherein the major decisions made in game will be made by you. And you. And you. There is one "president", the player who is playing the game, and it is his duty to enact the will of his Senators and Citizens.
I will be playing Civ IV, as it suits a game of Democracy better. Weekly, I will be giving a State of the Bomb address. In this address I will cover diplomatic relations, how we are doing with our goals, the crab industry, important events, employment, racial tensions, popular music and the economy. Pictures included, of course.
In the comments section of each of these addresses I will consult with the Senators of Our Great Nation as to what our next course of action will be. Shall we explore the orient? Shall we begin a new initiative to build a public library in every city? Shall we fuck up Montezuma? YOU ALL DECIDE.
How do I get involved?
Oh man! So many ways! To begin with you can follow PresidentOfTheBomb on twitter for timely updates as to the goings-on of Our Great Nation. Things are still in planning stages, so that twitter account will be the best way to be the most up to date!
Secondly, you can send me a pm or post in the comments here if you would like to become a "senator". Senators are simply people I will add to a mass giantbomb pm in order to alert them when new updates occur in the game. Their opinions and decisions will have greater weight than those of regular commenters, as I will know they have been following along.
You don't need to be a senator though to participate! Any comment left in the comments section will be considered! I am the Commander in Chief so in the end, I have veto and final say. If every single senator recommends I "touch queen elizabeth on the ta tas" and one ordinary citizen instructs me to "focus on diplomacy"... maybe I will take a bit of executive privilege in whose council I choose to take*.
Follow the twitter. Comment here if you wish to become a senator.
And for our first order of business.
PEOPLE OF THIS GREAT NATION...
What is the name... OF THIS GREAT NATION?
