    Sid Meier's Civilization IV

Game » consists of 6 releases. Released Oct 25, 2005

The fourth official installment of the empire-building turn-based strategy game Sid Meier's Civilization, adding 3D graphics, a simpler user interface, and numerous gameplay enhancements.

I suck at this game. Anyone have any beginner tips or videos?

My friend let me have his old copy of Civilization IV and I'm really getting into it.
The only problem I'm having is that I have no idea what I'm doing.

Any veteran players wanna help me out?

Maybe grab Civ V, that game is a bit easier for new players. I played a fair bit of Civ IV but never got that good at it.

I bought Civ V when it came out but only played like two hours of it. I really need to play that game more. I did the same with Empire:Total War. I find it hard to start up and get into a big strategy game.

LOL, I was just going to say this. Play civ 5. So much more user friendly. Didn't really like the previous ones. I've played this one for over 350 hours. -_-

Start on the easiest setting with a small world size. Don't play with any really aggressive AIs (wars can kill you in the game very easily from losing cities to just having to turn over to military production).

Keep your Civ small. Fewer cities means a civ that is easier to develop and easier to defend. Or, be a war machine and alwaysbeshooting.

But as folks above are saying, Civ V is probably the right answer. It's a better, and easier to understand game.
