Civilization V brings brand new gameplay elements to this beloved franchise, while maintaining the "just one more turn" mentality.
Favorite/Most Played Civilization V Civilization?
Definitely the Japanese. I find that when I'm playing single player the AI tends to denounce and declare war on you as soon as you start doing better than them, so the Japs are great for defense, and in the multiplayer, the diplomacy is pretty much unused (what with the AI never talking to you..ever) that military tends to become the best option.
When I'm playing with a buncha friends though, I tend to play Germany. Civ tends to follow real world trends, and by the time everyone's running around with tanks and infantry a big war is usually ready to start - having the panzer is a great bonus in the almost inevitable war
It's pretty much a better market, the first building you can get for better gold production. You can find out more about them in the Civopedia.@Mysterion said:
I prefer Harun al-Rashid myself for kickass bazaars.I've never played as Arabia. What's the bazaar? If I have one complaint with Civ 5, it's that specialty units/buildings are never explained what they do or what they replace.
I like to play as Catherine just so I can laugh as I tech up to Animal Husbandry and then Horseback Riding. But I also like playing as Ramses. He's pretty cool.

I tend to go germany in mp too but for it's first unit! it's so damn cheap and if you can see yourself to go in a GA when you can start building them you can easily pump out 1 every 1-5 turn in every city. Sure longsword men will make chop meat out of the mystro.
From my limited experience, it seems like Japan has a pretty overpowered special ability that is useful in pretty much every case, as war is almost always inevitable anyways. Same goes for Rome, as long as you come to accept that your capital won't be the wonder factory one is often tempted to make it. France is pretty good in allowing access to the first few branches of civics earlier, Germany has some early-game military help to compliment its useful unique units (Landschnekts are great because of how easy they are to pump out, costing half as much as a regular pikeman. Panzers should be self-explanatory). I guess the weaker Civs are the ones who's abilities are fairly circumstantial and are otherwise underpowered. I don't see much appeal for the United States, nor do I see how the Ottoman's ability is anything less than worthless. Then there are civs that seem overpowered on certain maps (England and Polynesia on archepelago) and civs that seem entirely geared towards a certain victory condition (Babylon and Korea for science, China and Mongolia for conquest.)
In any case, I don't really see Civ as much of a multiplayer game, so balance really isn't an issue. One of these days I'm going to have to play as the Aztecs and gain culture through murder. Should be fun, right?

Civopedia and my computer don't get along. Every time I boot it up I think my computer will explode.
Outside of Japans crazy OP unit buff I found they were all interchangeable as no matter what one I played I always feel into the same tactic and it won every time. That said, I usually stuck with Japan for the above reason.
@Galiant: Out of interest how was that scenario pack? Was it worth the money? (I play enough civ that Im considering getting a bit of DLC for it.)Both me and my girlfriend play a lot of Civ V, so for us it was worth it! But, you know, it doesn't add THAT much new stuff. It's still Civ V.
Nebuchadnezzar II all the way. Bowman rush in early game plus Babylon's early science lead is just too good to pass up.
I'm finding Sejung to be enjoyable to play as too, but I feel more restricted in how I have to play as Korea. If I'm not playing a vertical game with a focus on specialists I feel like I'm wasting the UA.
Edit: I'm surprised no one has voted Siam yet.
I'm enjoying playing as Korea. Their ability to generate science has a real "this feels overpowered" kind of fun, especially once you start gaining the Freedom civics. Also, the H'watcha is great for defending.

They're city states bonuses are big, but I don't like him for the same reason I don't like Alexander. Playing to buy city states favor just pisses everyone else off.
