Hello Giant Bomb just a quick question. I have never played a Civ game but I am big into RTS and Turn Based Strategy. I've played Total War, and when I play it I usually auto-resolve all battles, I just find the research, building armies and taking over territories a lot more interesting.

So should I get Civilization V? How easy is to get into it? I tried playing IV and there was no tutorials or anything so I had no idea what I was doing. Thanks.

If you liked Total War without the RTS combat, you'll love Civ. Buy it.

Civilization is the reason Total War exists.

Civilization is the one of the absolute greatest series ever and Civ 5 is amazing, only taking a break from it right now to eat some pizza real quick. based on your post, you should love the game

I'm downloading the demo right now.  People seem to be freaking out over this game, but I can't figure out what's so exciting about it.  It looks kind of slow paced, and you don't ever get to see any any action, just the world map and some numbers.  It looks boring but I'm going to try it.

@Uri555: This. If you like the economic and diplomatic sides of anything, Civ is the game for you. You can win without war at all. However, it is hard to keep everyone happy. Either way, I know you are in for a good time.

I say if you like total war, than get it. I personally am way into SCII but find Civilization to just be sorta boring. It's fun at first but then after I while I just ask myself "What am I even doing" and I cant really answer that. I guess it's probably because I am terrible at the game and dont know any kind of strategy so most of the games of Civ IV I played were spent aimlessly researching and teching up until I could completely destroy the AI.

I hope no sane person will not try a demo for a game they are unsure they will love :)

Trying the demo honestly I think you should go back to Civ IV and learn that.  Not liking the Civ V demo...  Civ IV is snappier and has a more classy presentation.
