Silent Hill: Downpour, HD Collection Patches Incoming
Just kind of confused as to why you put out a terrible HD collection rather than simply giving it enough time to be properly developed. It's not like you have some marketing campaign you need to adhere to. This just makes them look bad; I guess it would make them look worse if they did nothing at all. But still...
don't get me wrong i love a lot of the games now days but developers should seriously consider FINISHING and testing a game thoroughly so you don't have to worry about patching it up... just thought i should say it
That would be nice if they fixed the auto saves that don't actually auto save on Downpour. Its fairly annoying and can cause major backtracking a lot.
As for the HD collection, even if they actually fix the issues (the change of textures withstanding which is really weird) I wont buy it. Mainly, I just cant stand the new voices (I Know they have the original in SH2, but whats the point if that's all you get?) and the changes of a lot of textures is really weird.
I'm sure people that are new to the series may enjoy it, its probably perfectly feasible if they fix the problems, but its not for me.
That seems kind of weird, a re-release HDified version that's not for a fan. heh
The scariest part of that game is a house with a dead man who is caught in a vice and missing something. Basements are scary, SUB-BASEMENTS BELOW BASEMENTS are fucking horrifying. One thing that I don't know if you can do again is the ethereal quality of Silent Hill 2. The acting is bad that the characters don't feel quite ... human? They don't react with the right emotions, James especially. Murphy reacts appropriately to strange landscapes and impossible physics (stairwells to nowhere). James just says nothing, like he's not even seeing the same things you are. When he does react, its muted and off. It's something you really can't do nowadays, you can't have your characters acting wooden and odd in order to get that almost Expressionist sense of ethereal strangeness.that's not always true though. Like occasionally you'll walk past a mutilated body or something of the sort and Murphy won't even notice it. I thought that was kind of strange.
O.k. and they still refuse to give me any patches that fixed the wrongly done inverted camera options in Silent Hill Homecoming!!! I've owned that game for over a year now and refuse to play it with such bad invert camera settings.
@Aetheldod: I know, lol. I still have all my day 1 release copies of the Silent Hill games...that started to matter a lot less to me after the PSP/PS2 release
"You are meant to die". Lmfao, Patrick Klepeck you so crazy. You can make it to the end on a roller coaster. You crack me up, bro. You do that on the podcast all the time too.

@shodan2020You my friend need to read the blog I wrote about Silent Hill 3. I believe I dedicated a paragraph just to that single scareI'll have to see what the patched versions look like. Hopefully, good, because I would like to get the HD versions of these games, if they are done right.
@Sackmanjones One of the biggest scares in Silent Hill 3 (for me) is with a mannequin torso in one of those apartment/business buildings later on in the game.
Oh jesus christ don't bring back the memories. That was worse than the bathtub in Eternal Darkness.
