    Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Game » consists of 10 releases. Released Dec 08, 2009

An icy re-imagining of the classic Silent Hill, which trades weapons for frantic chase sequences as the player tries desperately to flee pursuing enemies. It takes on more of an adventure game format than traditional survival-horror.

    TGS 09 Trailer

It's almost the same as the last trailer, and isn't in great quality either (none of the big video sites have it).

    Gameplay (off screen, crappy cam).

It looks pretty panic inducing, despite missing the atmosphere build up, having just this one abrupt video.

Better but older stuff here and here.

You sure that's not the PSP version? That's the only version i've been hearing anything about from the show, and would explain the crappy quality.

No, it's just a crappy cam, you can see it's the Wii version from the remote-aimed cursor, the phone use and the waggle icons. All that's Wii.

I'm fairly certain the PSP (and maybe PS2?) version also lacks the ice distortion effects and the dynamic shadows cast by the flashlight.

Not that the game's so impressive looking anywhere, it's pretty obvious it doesn't have the budget and attention of the early Silent Hill games, but the engine and overall look is pretty solid considering how it all works (seamless transitions, open fully accessible environments, etc).

Are you trying to tell me the PSP doesn't have waggle?

Well I imagine it has button mashing in its place (say, tap X rapidly to get them off your back) unless the UMD is magical. That wasn't exactly the strongest omission I mentioned. I was wrong about the dynamic shadows though, they're visible in PSP screens. I think.
