    Having the main protagonist(s) and foreground appear only as silhouettes against an often colourful background has become a popular art aesthetic for 2D games in the last few years.

    King of Fighters XIII is NOT a Silhouetted 2D game...

    If it is then you may as well add Street Fighter 2 to the list, honestly here's the definition for Silhouette:
     
     a two-dimensional representation of the outline of an object, as a cutout or configurational drawing, uniformly filled in with black, esp. a black-paper, miniature cutout of the outlines of a famous person's face. 
     
    Given this definition, many of the other games attached to this concept are just blatantly wrong.
