Played it and really enjoyed it, to bad it was only a hour. It like heroine just a little bit and your hooked, i was ready to play all day
So it is a 24 hour stress test that contains the same content as the first beta test. I didn't see anywhere in the faq about it still being limited to the one hour chunk, so here's to hoping.
Ryan is playing it for a while: http://www.justin.tv/taswell#/w/4880410320
Beta players can play the one-hour slice of the game multiple times during the beta period.
Still no code here. I'm not going to get my hopes up.
@magzine: Thanks for the clarification. Did I just skip over that in the faq?
Anybody else get in today and have it sit at an endless loading screen after the mandatory tutorial? If I close it out, it makes me do the tutorial again, which works fine, but then it just hangs on the loading screen forever when I go to start my own city.

Did it say that you couldn't connect at the moment then load forever? Just quit/repeat until you can get it without that.
I am poor at city planning.
Anyone else really disappointed by this?
I know it is only a timed demo (with most of the fun stuff blocked out) but after the disappointing map size in SC4, this seems like a backwards step. They are tiny - after 30-45 you have run out of space to build. Wasn't the fun part of SC building huge and varied cities? Cities shouldn't feel this limited.
They try to get round this by regions and specialisation but this feels disjointed - a convenience on behalf of the programmers rather than enhancing gameplay. Being just a one trick town is very constraining ... why not be everything or at least give us the space and potential to create something more imaginative?
Sorry to be a downer but the graphics look a bit pants as well and the "streamlining" has made things a tad too easy. When you are getting bored before the hour is up, and with nothing left to build, you do wonder if this is all there is to the game. The spectre of countless add-on packs isn't thrilling me either (the price of the "luxury" edition is enough to make my eyes water).
I really hope I am proved wrong in a couple of weeks time.

I am getting the same thing. Super annoying.

I've been playing Cities XL lately and those maps are huge, so I guess everything smaller is a step back. Meanwhile I still haven't gotten my code, I got in in the first beta and only had time to do the turorial so I didn't really got the change to form a impression.
@piranesi: I think the graphics look quite nice actually.
@piranesi: During Ryan's stream he mentioned that when he went to Maxis and actually played the version they had rather than the demo the maps were much larger than what is in the demo. That being said they won't be as big as the largest maps in SC4 :( I think I remember one of the devs saying they would be about the size of the medium maps in SC4 but I can't remember where that came from. It may have been the AMA on reddit that they did.

i wasn't looking closely and was 100% certain it was dong-shaped.
you failed me :(

I realized afterwards that I should make a dong shaped one when I give it another go.

I got that, but it didn't happen every time, after a bit I bumped up the graphics options in game (especially resolution) and that seemed to get rid of it completely, not that that's a lot of help but you aren't alone at least.

It's only a small map for the beta
