After reading some of the reviews on Skate 3, I'm certain I do no want to purchase this game until it has a significant price drop.  I have been reading that Skate 3 is not very different from Skate 2.  I played Skate 1 and loved it but skipped over Skate 2, which is now $20.  I'm itching to play a Skate game but I'm not sure whether to just get Skate 2 or wait for a price drop on Skate 3.  Any suggestions?

Just wait till it drops in price, and then buy it.

@SteamPunkJin: If I were to add that online play is probably something I won't do, would skate 3 still be worth waiting for?

I am in the exact same situation. I'll wait for a price drop, but by then "Skate 4" will probably be out.

"Skate Share Pack" required for online access to user created content in Skate 3.   It's available in full-priced retail edition or through DLC for an as of yet undetermined price.  DESTRUCTOID article on the subject.

If you don't care about more tricks, build your own skate park, less customization, online and difficulty settings I would suggest you to buy skate 2. Personally I wouldn't buy a game that is basically the same thing but with less futures, even if it's cheaper.

Ya, the reviews of Skate 3 aren't saying it's bad, just not enough of an improvement over Skate 2. It's still better than Skate 2 though, just not worth $60 better.

It'll probably be on Amazon at 40 bucks in a month or two.

Thanks for all the opinions guys.  I've got to wait another two weeks before I have enough extra cash to afford either one so I'll keep weighing your comments in the meantime.  I will probably end up going for Skate 3 as I am afraid the video posting and things will go away for Skate 2.  I do like to make videos :)

@PenguinDust: Didn't know Skate 3 had user downloadable parks.  This is what actually swayed my decision.  I'd like to play other people's creations.
