Early players of Dynamix's Starsiege: Tribes discovered they could make their jetpack-equipped warriors move more quickly down sloped surfaces by tapping the jump button to avoid building up friction. The use of skiing was originally decried by some as cheapening the Tribes experience, but the playerbase eventually came to accept and even rely on its advantages in competitive play.
In fact, skiing became such an integral part of the Tribes experience that Dynamix and later Irrational Games made special provisions for its continued use in subsequent sequels Tribes 2 and Tribes: Vengeance.
There hasn't been any recent activity for this object.

This exploitation of the original Starsiege: Tribes' physics model speeds up player movement down declining surfaces.
Overview
Skiing typically involves strapping two machined, smooth surfaces to one's feet and using them to drift down snow-covered mountains. There have been a handful of video games that attempt to duplicate this sport, such as Slalom, Skiing, and Jonny Moseley Mad Trix.
