This is what Skullgirls looked like when I had first heard of it.I'd been monitoring Skullgirls' progress for years. Even back then, when it looked like something that would run on a PlayStation 1, I knew it had potential. Something about the art style and design really interested me, and I'm always up for a new fighting game - even amongst the really terrible ones, there's only a few I actually hate.I kept tabs on it for a while, but for a couple of years, there wasn't really a lot of progress....

I should preface this review by saying I'm not a fighting "aficionado" and not even in the least bit skilled so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt. Because Skullgirls seems like a game designed by a tournament fighter (which it is) but mainly for hardcore fighting fans. Now this is an indie game so it wouldn't have the huge budget of Capcom releases or the frequent entries of SNK with King of Fighters but in many ways, Skullgirls feels like it wants to and usually will leave a great...

Skullgirls is a fantastic fighting game that has been independently developed by Reverge Labs and co-published by Autumn Games and Konami. The game can be played using different ratios of characters, with each player able to select up to three fighters on their team. Favorite fighting game currently. Developers are really nice and constantly updating the game. Has a very friendly community if you come off as a respectful person yourself. Not the most difficult fighting game to get into but theres quite a bit of depth to the game that will keep you coming back for months to come....

I found the target audience for Skullgirls in a basement facility near a video game shoppe in downtown Toronto. This gentlemen’s club was sort of a modern day arcade, where tournament-caliber fighting game fans can ply their craft at the expense of people who wanted to be tournament-caliber fighting game fans. This is a fun fighting game that I completely ignored till now. I'm no expert on fighting games which is why the extensive tutorial this game has will teach you the basics needed to secure a victory. Giving the player information about each fighter lets you understand them a lot more than staring at a move list and trying out each move.
