This news has made me unnaturally excited for today's Bombcast.

Activision Announces Skylanders Giants, Presumably While Preemptively Counting Your Money
My son keeps telling me he wants to see a Skylanders movie. I want to tell him that in all likelihood there will be a dozen of them over time, but that would probably make his head explode.

And the Spyro name is finally dead.
Spyro was dead before Skylanders. Shitty Spyro games killed him a while ago.
If anything, Skylanders is doing nothing but good things for the Spyro name.
I honestly haven't figured out the pull on having them all; I have about 11 (some were gifts) and I have no desire to find the others, and I definitely have no desire to pay outrageous premiums on eBay for them. Especially the ugly ass gold ones that have no differences other than rarity.
The lack of moving parts was one of the disappointing things about the first game. I hope the figurines are posable this time and allow for greater articulation.
Also it seems like they've done away with the Spyro name judging from the trailer, I thinks that's for the best. Maybe now Activision can use the IP for a proper platforming reboot of the franchise.

Not my money. I don't buy retarded shit.
Well, not this retarded shit.
I do. In fact, I just got back from the store a few minutes ago where I purchased Skylanders.
THIS IS HOW IT STARTS.
Dude, have you checked your IQ within the last hour? It might not already be too late! :P
Give those bastards some articulation. Then, maybe we'll talk.
... Who am I kidding, I'd just pose Drobot with Cobra Commander having tea. Everyone should have tea with Cobra Commander, though!
At least the original Portal of Power things are supposed to work with the new figures so it's not as evil a ploy as it could possibly be. It would've been easy enough to push a new 'enhanced' portal as an ownership requirement.
Saw these in the Best Buy today when looking for wired PC keyboards (had to go to Fry's Electronics as Best Buy stores seem to believe that everyone wants a wireless one), turns out that they have a box version for people like me who bought the first one that just comes with the wooden giant seen in the original post & the game. Another comes with the portal of power, cinder & some air type along with that same giant. There's one giant of every type of element sold separately along with a bunch of new ones of the original Skylanders. Most of the original ones brought in for the giants lineup are in different poses (ie. Hex holding something with both hands above her head instead of an item in 1 hand with the arm sticking out) & apparently the Skylanders brought back have a better light up base & new powers. No idea yet if the original powers carry over if you take one of the original Skylanders like Drobot & put him into the Skylanders Giants game.
